Personal protective equipment during COVID-19: A natural history of dental and dental hygiene regulatory guidance in Canada
CONCLUSIONS AND PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The different approaches could have been justified on the basis of prevalence of COVID-19 and availability of personal protective equipment; however, there was a risk of creating confusion about IPCG best practices. The findings of this review will support decision makers when planning future development and dissemination of regulations for all oral health care practitioners.PMID:38008525 | DOI:10.1016/j.adaj.2023.09.017 (Source: Journal of the American Dental Association)

Challenges connecting emergency department patients with oral health care: A qualitative analysis of patients, emergency department clinicians, and dentists
CONCLUSIONS: More robust infrastructure and clinician support are needed to ensure successful referral and screening without undue provider burden for both medical and dental clinicians.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Patients are amenable to screening for unmet oral health needs and HRSN in the ED, which may improve access to care.PMID:38008526 | DOI:10.1016/j.adaj.2023.09.020 (Source: Journal of the American Dental Association)
