Albuterol: Still first-line in rescue therapy?
Albuterol has been a cornerstone of asthma treatment for several decades, but evidence suggests that it may be overused at the expense of more efficacious treatment. Albuterol may not even be appropriate for sole first-line rescue medication in some patients. Inflammatory mechanisms have been shown to play a role early in the course of developing bronchospasm, suggesting that inhaled corticosteroids should be included as part of initial rescue treatment. Pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland
Salivary gland tumors are rare, accounting for 6% to 8% of head and neck tumors. Detecting them in primary care is important so that adequate treatment can be provided. This case report describes a 58-year-old woman whose unilateral pulsatile tinnitus and ear fullness led to the diagnosis of a salivary gland tumor, specifically a pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland. Dapagliflozin for patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction
The CDC estimates that national costs related to heart failure exceed $30 billion annually. Clinicians and researchers continue to aggressively pursue measures aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality among the 6.5 million adults affected by the disease. Dapagliflozin recently emerged as a promising FDA-approved therapy for patients with systolic heart failure, more commonly referred to as heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Facial dermatitis in a healthy 9-year-old boy
This case report describes a boy who presented to the hospital with worsening facial rash and fevers. He had previously been prescribed mometasone cream for rosacea, which his mother applied daily for about 45 days. After a biopsy was performed, he was diagnosed with acneiform dermatitis likely secondary to topical corticosteroid use complicated by demodex folliculitis and a superimposed bacterial infection.
