Natural polyphenols prevent indomethacin ‐induced and diclofenac‐induced Caco‐2 cell death by reducing endoplasmic reticulum stress regardless of their direct reactive oxygen species scavenging capacity
ConclusionThe cytoprotective activity of polyphenols against NSAIDs ‐induced toxicity stemmed from either suppression of CHOP‐related ER and mitochondria stresses or other CHOP‐independent pathways, but not from the intrinsic ROS scavenging capacity. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Antihyperuricemic and nephroprotective effects of extracts from Orthosiphon stamineus in hyperuricemic mice
ConclusionsThese findings demonstrate that OSE has antihyperuricemic and nephroprotective effects on PO ‐induced HUA mice and those results indicate that OSE could be a safe and effective agent or functional ingredient for treating HUA. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Evaluating side ‐by‐side diffusion models for studying drug supersaturation in an absorptive environment: a case example of fenofibrate and felodipine
ConclusionThe tested models were comparable; however, Caco ‐2 cell monolayers were considered too sensitive to be used to study drug supersaturation. Further studies are needed to evaluate the observed drug‐dependent effects of absorption on drug supersaturation. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Beneficial effects of fish oil enriched in omega ‐3 fatty acids on the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain
ConclusionWe conclude that the fish oil enriched in omega ‐3 fatty acids administration relieves thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia effectively and also enhances the recovery process in rats with CCI of the sciatic nerve. These findings might contribute to new therapeutic approaches including omega‐3 fatty acids in neuropathic pain treatment . (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Chamuangone from Garcinia cowa leaves inhibits cell proliferation and migration and induces cell apoptosis in human cervical cancer in vitro
ConclusionsThe above results confirm the inhibitory effects of chamuangone on HeLa cell proliferation and cell migration. In addition, chamuangone also induces cell apoptosis in HeLa cells. These findings indicate that chamuangone is a compound that is a potential chemotherapeutic agent. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

7 ‐methoxyflavanone alleviates neuroinflammation in lipopolysaccharide‐stimulated microglial cells by inhibiting TLR4/MyD88/MAPK signalling and activating the Nrf2/NQO‐1 pathway
Conclusions7 ‐methoxyflavanone inhibited LPS‐stimulated TLR4/MyD88/MAPK signalling and activated Nrf2‐mediated transcription of antioxidant protein NQO‐1, showing antineuroinflammatory effect, so it is a potential neuroprotective agent. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Population pharmacokinetics of cefuroxime and uptake into hip and spine bone of patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery
ConclusionEven if a majority of patients undergoing hip or spine surgery probably achieved adequate concentrations of cefuroxime, not all patients reached bone concentrations of cefuroxime above a recommended breakpoint for susceptible germs at the time of surgery. Total triterpenes from the fruits of Chaenomeles speciosa (Sweet) Nakai protects against indomethacin ‐induced gastric mucosal injury: involvement of TFF1‐mediated EGF/EGFR and apoptotic pathways
ConclusionsOur present study demonstrated that TCS ’s gastroprotective effect was closely connected with boosting TFF1 expression, activating TFF1‐mediated EGF/EGFR pathway, thus restraining mitochondrial‐dependent apoptosis, which provided new insights into interpreting its underlying mechanism and promised to act as a candidate drug to treat gastric mucosal injury.
