Gut microbiome ‐mediated modulation of hepatic cytochrome P450 and P‐glycoprotein: impact of butyrate and fructo‐oligosaccharide‐inulin
ConclusionThe expression of hepatic genes implicated in drug metabolism and transport displays sensitivity to the microbiome, microbiome ‐derived metabolites and a microbial‐targeted intervention. Our study may provide the impetus to explore microbiota‐targeted interventions in normalising host metabolic activity and reducing inter‐individual variability in drug pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetics and in vivo distribution of optimized PLGA nanoparticles for pulmonary delivery of levofloxacin
ConclusionThe optimized formulation with desirability value 0.9612 showed mean particle size of 146 nm, MMAD of 4.40 μm and sustained the drug release up to 120 h in simulated lung fluid. Augmentation inCmax (1.71 ‐fold), AUC 0‐∞ (5.46‐fold), Mean Residence Time (6.64‐fold) and AUC/MIC (6.21‐fold) of LN through pulmonary route was found to significantly higher (P< 0.05) than levofloxacin (p. o.). A trimethoxy flavonoid isolated from stem extract of Tabebuia chrysantha suppresses angiogenesis in angiosarcoma
ConclusionThe isolated flavonoid named TMF fromT.  chrysantha functions as specific regulators of target proteins of angiosarcoma. The STAT3 ‐MMP9 signalling may be used as an effective prognostic marker of angiosarcoma. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Tectorigenin inhibits inflammation and pulmonary fibrosis in allergic asthma model of ovalbumin ‐sensitized guinea pigs
ConclusionsTectorigenin could inhibit pulmonary fibrosis and airway inflammation through TGF ‐β1/Smad signalling pathway and TLR4/NF‐κB signalling pathway. Therefore, tectorigenin might be a promising medicine to treat allergic asthma. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Drug repositioning: a brief overview
ConclusionThe history of great ‐repositioned drugs has given some solutions to various pathologies. Serendipity is not yet useful to find repositioning drugs. Drug repositioning is of growing interest. Nowadays, a more rational approach to the identification of drug candidates for repositioning is possible, especially using dat a mining.
