Improving Mental Health Outcomes in Adolescent Patients With Universal Anxiety Screening in an Outpatient Pediatric Primary Care Office: A Quality Improvement Project
In the wake of the cultural and mental health consequences that arose since the COVID-19 pandemic, primary care providers must be able to assess and initiate treatment of anxiety disorders in the pediatric population. Only 59% of children with a diagnosable anxiety disorder are identified and receive treatment. This quality improvement project aimed to evaluate the implementation of universal anxiety screening using the General Anxiety Disorder-7 tool in pediatric primary care. Publishing Quality Improvement Projects: Know the Guidelines Before Starting Your Project
Health care clinicians, educators, and students who plan and implement quality improvement (QI) projects must know reporting guidelines for successful project planning and publication. We aimed to identify QI guidelines, which authors can locate, and highlight how best to use them for manuscript preparation. We also address guidelines for educational QI projects. Because of the increasing number of Doctor of Nursing Practice projects generated, these students and their mentors must be familiar with commonly used guidelines for reporting QI projects to facilitate peer review, demonstrate quality and rigor of work, reduce re...

Pediatric Palliative Care for a French Hospital-At-Home Facility: A Case Report
Health policies are subject to strong citizen, political, and financial pressures, forcing them to be constantly updated. Moreover, there is a growing demand for hospital care and the requirement for new alternative care because of the aging of the population and the increase in chronic diseases. Thus, most patients receiving palliative care for chronic progressive diseases wish to remain at home (Stilwell et al., 2022. Di Nitto et al., 2022). Many countries have implemented a hospital-at-home (HaH) system that provides full-time care to patients in their homes relieving public hospital systems, facilitating patient end-of...

Assessment of Language Development in Dual Language Learners: A Case Report
Language diversity is increasing in the United States. The number of persons who speak a language other than English at home nearly tripled from 1980 to 2019 (Dietrich& Hernandez, 2022b). Dual Language Learners (DLLs) are young children (generally aged 0 –5 years) who are learning two or more languages and who have at least one parent who speaks a language other than English at home (Migration Policy Institute, 2019; Maine Department of Education, 2022). Artificial Intelligence and Nursing: It's All About Trust
For the past 21 years, nursing has been rated as the most trusted profession (Levine, 2023). The operative word is “trust.” Trust permeates all aspects of nursing and the nursing profession: clinical care by registered nurses, nurse practitioners/advanced practice registered nurses; research investigations by nurse researchers and nurse scientists, quality improvement studies by Doctors in Nursing Practice; education by nursing faculty; publications by nurse authors, as well as nurses who review manuscripts, and nursing editors.
