Parental Perception and Barriers Regarding COVID-19 Vaccination in Technology Dependent Children
Children who use chronic home mechanical ventilation are considered a high-risk group for developing severe COVID 19 infection (Vasconcello-Castillo et al., 2020). These children have various diagnoses such as neuromuscular disease, sleep disorders and chronic lung disease. Many require continuous use of ventilatory support in the home and are at high risk for respiratory infections and mortality. Most of these patients need advanced nursing care and special respiratory equipment for airway clearance to prevent hospitalization. (Source: Journal of Pediatric Health Care)

Erratum to NAPNAP Position Statement on Incentivizing APRN Preceptors
The publisher regrets that an error was introduced in the Health Policy and Funding Considerations section. The sentence beginning “The GNE program has not been renewed…” should correctly read as “The GNE program has not been renewed since piloted, although it remains an evidence-based federal policy solution to increase APRN training capacity that would benefit from revision based on lessons learned from the initial pi lot program.” (Source: Journal of Pediatric Health Care)

Mental Health Trajectories of Children and Caregivers Using School-Based Health Centers During the COVID-19 Pandemic
This was a prospective study of children registered at urban school-based health centers (SBHC)s in Canada. Evaluation of the Mental Health Referral Process for African American Adolescent Patients Within a Primary Care Setting: A Quality Improvement Project
Approximately 10% to 20% of youth worldwide are affected by mental health conditions. However, most remain inadequately diagnosed and treated (World Health Organization, 2020). According to the American Psychiatric Association (2019), even though rates of mental disorders in the African American population are similar to that of the general population, the existing disparities cause this group to receive lower quality, nonculturally competent care. Furthermore, a disproportionate number of African American adolescents are affected by mental health disorders, with depressive moods being the most common reason for referral (...

Identifying Congenital Heart Block in Primary Care
Congenital heart block (CHB) is a rare type of congenital heart disease described as an interference of the conduction of electrical impulses in the heart that control the contraction of the ventricles and the pumping of the heart. There are different types of heart block ranging in severity, with first-degree heart block being the least severe and third-degree (or complete) heart block being the most severe, along with second-degree Mobitz type I and second-degree Mobtiz type II. CHB is rare, with an incidence rate of 1 in 15,000 to 1 in 22,000 live births. (Source: Journal of Pediatric Health Care)
