Does it run in the family? A case report of two sisters with hymen septate
Septate hymen is considered a variant of normal hymenal development. Hymen septate can be divided into three orientations, of which 90% is vertical.1 The prevalence is estimated 0.7-2.7% and is more commonly observed in white ethnicity. 1 Literature has only reported familial cases of imperforate hymen in twins and sisters, but not of other hymenal variants.2-3 Until now the mode of inheritance is not clear. This case report describes two sisters with hymen septate. The oldest sister was a 15-years-old Caucasian female. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

A study of pre- and post-perception comparisons and evaluation of satisfaction and influencing factors among physicians with pediatric and adolescent gynecology subspecialty training in China
The target population of this study were the participants who received continuing education in pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG) carried out at the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZJUCH). We aimed to understand their satisfaction with the whole process and to explore the factors that might affect satisfaction. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

Juvenile cystic adenomyosis or accessory cavitated uterine mass (case report)
Adenomyosis is a benign disease characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue (glands and stroma) in the myometrium. Diffuse adenomyosis is the most common form, which usually affects women over 30 years of age, while the cystic form, which is very rare, typically affects younger women. Symptoms include chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea and menometrorrhagia. The first case of juvenile cystic adenomyosis (JCA) was published in 1996 by Tamura in a 16-year-old patient. Since then, less than 40 cases have been reported in the literature. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

Prevalence of bleeding disorders in postmenarchal adolescents presenting with heavy menstrual bleeding and acute anemia requiring urgent treatment
Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common clinical condition among adolescents and occurs most often within the first 2 –3 years after menarche. Although HMB, which is typically associated with irregular and prolonged menstruation in this age group, is usually caused by anovulatory bleeding due to immaturity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, an underlying, previously undiagnosed bleeding disorder (B D) may also lead to such bleeding. It has been reported that approximately 20% of adolescent girls who present for evaluation of HMB and up to 33% of girls hospitalized for HMB may have BD1,2. (Source: Journa...

Analysis of Skin Microbiota in girls with vulvar lichen sclerosus
Vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS) is a chronic skin disease that affects the skin of the vulva with itching, irritation, and pain. It may present in a prepubertal or adolescent patient. The etiology of VLS remains unclear. Autoimmune, genetic, hormonal, or infectious conditions may be involved in the pathogenesis of VLS [1]. Recent studies suggested unbalanced skin microbiota in the region of VLS [2-4]. We thus hypothesized that alterations of skin microbiotas may contribute to the development of VLS. Clinical characteristics of Chinese patients with Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome: a multicentric study
Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome (HWWS), also named as Obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly (OHVIRA) syndrome, is a rare female genitourinary malformation disease featured by uterine didelphys, obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly. In addition to the abnormalities of the reproductive system, it's been reported that HWWS patients can present with other rare extragenital malformations, such as scoliosis, abnormal cardiac development and intestinal malrotation, which might need proper evaluation and intervention by other specialties (1,2). Utility of multidisciplinary meetings in paediatric and adolescent oncofertility
Multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs) are increasingly implemented in complex care based on the principle that they lead to evidence-based treatment recommendations, foster adherence to clinical guidelines, induce better team performance and improve medical care. In oncofertility, the uncertain outcomes of fertility preservation procedures in children contribute to the complexity of decision-making. There is limited published information on the influence of MDMs on paediatric and adolescent oncofertility care. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

Assessing providers ’ views and needs in paediatric fertility preservation surgery
Fertility is a major survivorship consideration for childhood cancer survivors. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation has recently transitioned into clinical practice, however, is still a novel procedure in children. Testicular tissue cryopreservation remains experimental and can only be undertaken under special governance protocols. There are no specific credentialing criteria in fertility preservation care and surgery and little data addressing the unmet needs of clinicians for surgical care in this discipline (1).
