Periods shouldn't bring any adolescents ’ world to a full stop. Period. An online survey of adolescents’ experience of menstruation.
Few studies have explored what specific outcome measures contained in assessment tools for period and pelvic pain are most relevant to adolescents. Co-design is a valuable method of ensuring input from those with lived experience. The Longitudinal Study of Teenagers with Endometriosis Periods and Pelvic Pain in Australia (LongSTEPPP) Co-Design Periods Survey comprised an anonymous online survey of adolescents ’ experience of menstruation to inform patient-reported outcome measures for the larger 5-year project. Neonatal single-stage surgical management of complicated distal vaginal atresia: Revisiting an appropriate and feasible technique
Distal vaginal obstruction causes accumulation of fluid in the vagina and uterus which is aggravated by stimulation of cervical and uterine glands by estrogen [1]. Although most of the cases present during the adolescent period, they could present in the neonatal period due to stimulation of the endometrial and cervical glands by maternal estrogen [2]. Neonatal complicated hydrometrocolpos (complicated with obstructive uropathy, intestinal obstruction, urinary tract infection or systemic sepsis) could be a serious condition which should be managed promptly or life-threatening complications could occur [3]. Social Media Videos on Contraceptive Implants: An Assessment of Video Quality and Reliability
The vast majority of pregnancies are the consequence of inappropriate birth control use or excessive reliance on ineffective methods.1,2 Access to a variety of contraceptive techniques and the ability to use a selected method consistently and appropriately have the potential to significantly lower the incidence of unplanned pregnancy. The method of contraception chosen by a person can be influenced by family or friends, particularly via social media.3 The scientific literature has shown that social media, particularly for young women, can influence their sexual health and contraception decisions. Should Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation in Pediatric Patients with Turner Syndrome Be Limited to the Research Setting?
Now that ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) has become standard of care for patients receiving gonadotoxic therapies, discussion has turned towards offering OTC to pediatric patients with Turner syndrome outside of research. While patients with Turner syndrome have unmet fertility needs and the authors support efforts for fertility preservation in these individuals, safety and efficacy data about OTC in this population are limited. Building on longstanding debates around offering experimental therapies as research or outside of research (as “innovative therapy”), we considered the suitability of offering OTC for Tur...
