1. Adverse Obstetrical Outcomes are Increased in Adolescent Pregnancy
Adolescent pregnancy is defined as pregnancy before the age of 20 and is the leading cause of mortality in girls ages 15 to 19 worldwide. Adolescent pregnancies are associated with increased maternal, obstetric, and neonatal risks, however data is limited. Our objective was to compare the risk of adverse obstetrical outcomes in teenage pregnancies to adult pregnancies. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

2. Surgical Treatment of a Rare Case of 46,XY Disorder of Sexual Development
We present the surgical management of a 21-year-old patient with 46,XY PGD,who has predominantly female external genitalia with clitoral enlargement and complete vaginal agenesis. Our patient presented with primary amenorrhea and lack of breast development. Clitoral enlarge ment was present with a single urethral opening and absence of an external vaginal opening (Fig.1)Laboratory evaluation revealed low testosterone concentrations (0.3 ng/ml) with elevated FSH and LH leves.Total testosterone/dihydrotestosterone and androstenedione ratios were normal. 3. Does mesna (mercapto-ethanesulphonate sodium) protect ovarian reserve after cyclophosphamide exposure?
Chemotherapy-induced ovarian failure is one of the severe challenges that female cancer survivors face in the reproductive age. Oocyte and ovarian tissue cryopreservation are fertility preservation methods with growing evidence yet remain an expensive option for many. Alternative fertility-preserving agents should be tailored according to the underlying mechanism of cytotoxic treatment the survivor is exposed to. Cyclophosphamide is one of the most common cytotoxic agents, with a wide spectrum of indications from childhood cancers to autoimmune diseases. 4. Histologic Analysis of Gonadal Tissue in Patients with Turner Syndrome and Y-Chromosome Material
Turner syndrome (TS) is caused by the absence of part of or a whole X-chromosome and occurs in 1 in 2500 live female births. The recommendation to perform prophylactic gonadectomy at diagnosis has been called into question based on reports of spontaneous puberty and pregnancy in some individuals with TS and Y. Because the decision to forego early prophylactic gonadectomy to preserve fertility must be balanced with avoidance of gonadal malignancy, our study sought to investigate gonadal histology from individuals who underwent prophylactic gonadectomy due to a diagnosis of TS with Y material. 5. Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Uptake in Adolescent Survivors of Bone Marrow Transplant
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States and can lead to cervical, oropharyngeal, and anogenital dysplasia and malignancy. Vaccination against HPV is recommended for all adolescents but is particularly important in patients with a history of bone marrow transplant (BMT) as they can have higher rates of persistent HPV-related disease or secondary cancers. Because of lost or reduced immunity after BMT, patients who previously received the vaccine must be re-vaccinated after transplant. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

7. National Perspectives of Youth: Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Home-based STI Testing
Adolescents are disproportionately affected by STIs and account for approximately half of new STIs annually. Increasing access to testing and treatment could reduce STI transmission rates. Thus, this study sought to understand adolescents ’ perspective of home-based STI testing to improve accessibility and uptake. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

9. Perception of Campus Contraceptive Access through Pharmacist Prescribing
Pharmacist contraceptive prescribing increases contraceptive access and is becoming more broadly implemented across the United States. University settings are important targets for expanding contraceptive access, as unintended pregnancy is a common reason for young women to drop out of school. Our objective was to describe young people's perceptions of barriers and facilitators to university campus pharmacist prescribing. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

11. Possible compensatory mechanisms of follicle protection in the retained ovary after unilateral oophorectomy in mouse models
In women who undergo unilateral oophorectomy (UO), some studies have shown that spontaneous pregnancy rates are similar to those who still have both ovaries intact. Furthermore, women who underwent UO entered menopause approximately 1 year earlier than those who have both ovaries, suggesting a compensatory mechanism. Since these effects are lower than what would be expected from the loss of half of the ovarian reserve, the aim of this study was to investigate possible compensatory mechanisms of follicle protection in the retained ovary after UO in mouse models.
