Analytic survey of 57 cases of oral metastases
ConclusionsAs a departure from many previous case series, we found lung and breast metastases to be equally numerous in women and liver as the most common oral metastasis in men. Also, we identified a tendency for the patient to present with a previous history in certain malignancies, like breast cancer, whereas in other malignancies, such as renal cell carcinoma, our data demonstrated a propensity to present in the oral cavity without history of a primary tumor. This article is protected by copyright. Absence of BRAFV600E mutation in odontogenic keratocysts
ConclusionOn the basis of our results, OKCs do not present recurrent hotspot mutations in these 50 genes commonly mutated in cancer. In addition, BRAFV600E does not play a central role in OKC pathogenesis. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine)

Smoking cessation leads to changes in survivin expression in oral mucosa
ConclusionsThe extension and intensity of survivin expression in the cytological smears were related to the smoking cessation in the group with OSCC. However, the smoking history (packs/years) did not influence the survivin expression. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine)

The utility of oral brush cytology in the early detection of oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders: A systematic review
ConclusionsFindings from this paper indicate that meaningful evidence‐based recommendations for the implementation of a minimally‐invasive technique to be utilized as an adjunctive tool for screening and early detection of oral cancer and OPMDs are complicated from the reported studies in the literature. There is need for well‐designed clinical studies to assess the accuracy of oral brush cytology utilizing validated cytological assessment criteria for the diagnosis and prediction of OPMDs.This article is protected by copyright. The effects of Icariin on wound healing of extraction sites with administration of Zoledronic and Dexamethasone: A rat model study
ConclusionConcurrent use of Zoledronic and Dexamethasone inhibits expression of VEGF, OCN and wound healing; and increases the number of osteoclast cells, serum CTX‐1 and TRACP‐5b after discontinuation for ten weeks. Icariin weakens those effects at a dose‐dependent manner but does not influence onset of BRONJ.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Assessment of biologically aggressive, recurrent glandular odontogenic cysts for mastermind ‐like 2 (MAML2) rearrangements: histopathologic and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) Findings in eleven cases
ConclusionFindings in the current study are in concert with previous investigations, and although this study finds ONLY LIMITED molecular evidence to support the premise that recurrent biologically aggressive GOCs are a precursor to IMEC, detection of MAML2 rearrangements in one case suggests that such a theoretic transition, while rare, is possible. This article is protected by copyright.
