Haematinic deficiencies and patient clinical profiles in Polish patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS)
ConclusionsThe results of our study indicate an association between iron and vitamin B12 deficiency and RAS in a Polish population. However, as the haematinic deficiencies did not significantly modify the course and clinical phenotype of the disease, further studies to explore their role in RAS aetiology are required. This article is protected by copyright. Dysplastic features relevant to malignant transformation in atrophic epithelium of oral submucous fibrosis: a preliminary study
ConclusionIncreased basal cell layer hyperplasia, abnormal superficial mitosis, increased nuclear‐cytoplasmic ratio, and hyperchromasia are high‐risk features for OSMF, and affected patients should be followed on a priority basis for the early detection of OSCC.This article is protected by copyright. Density and location of CD3+ and CD8+ tumor ‐infiltrating lymphocytes correlate with prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma
ConclusionsOur findings provide further evidence to support the prognostic values of CD3+ and CD8+ TILs for OSCC, suggesting that TILs subsets might be viable biomarkers and therapeutic targets with translational significance. This article is protected by copyright. Type ‐specific persistence and clearance rates of HPV genotypes in the oral and oropharyngeal mucosa in an HIV/AIDS cohort
ConclusionsAlthough HR‐HPV persistence was low, and clearance of the infection was observed in most cases, a close follow‐up is necessary, given the increase of HNC among HIV‐subjects, particularly HPV‐related cancer. This article is protected by copyright. Proinflammatory cytokines as serum biomarker in oral carcinoma —A prospective multi‐biomarker approach
ConclusionIn conclusion, IL‐6, IL‐8, and sIL‐2R are strongly associated with OSCC oncogenesis and IL‐6 and sIL‐2R seem to be promising and potent biomarkers for evaluating patients' prognosis. (Source: Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine)
