Sharing Lessons From Successes: Long-term Care Facilities That Weathered the Storm of COVID-19 and Staffing Crises
Purpose: To identify leadership styles and staffing strategies in Missouri long-term care (LTC) facilities that stood out among their peers as “positive deviants” with regard to COVID-19 infections and staffing shortages. Methods: Statewide survey of all LTC facilities to identify exemplar facilities with stable staffing and low rates of COVID-19. Interviews with senior leaders were conducted in 10 facilities in the state to understand the strategies employed that led to these “positive outliers.” A result-based educational program was designed to describe their actions and staff reactions. Evaluation of an Intensive Care Outreach Nurse Program in 4 UAE Hospitals
Background: Intensive care outreach nurses (ICONs) can reduce deterioration and death of patients in hospitals. Purpose: Evaluate outcomes associated with implementation of the ICON role across 4 UAE hospitals. Methods: Trend analyses and χ2 tests were used to measure changes before ICON program, during ICON year 1, ICON year 2, when the service coverage extended 24/7, and until the end of 2019. Clinical Debriefing in Cardiology Teams: A National Survey in Spain
We describe the current use of CD by multiprofessional Spanish cardiology team members. Methods: A self-administered survey exploring 31 items was disseminated online in October 2020. A comparison was made between respondents that who experience in CD with inexperienced respondents. Inferential analysis was done using Pearson's χ2 test. Results: Out of 167 valid responses, 45.5% had been completed by cardiology nurses. One-third of the respondents had experience in CD.
