Novel Shared Decision ‐Making Tool Improves Contraceptive Screening and Right Care during Pregnancy in a Military Hospital: A Quality Improvement Report
DiscussionResults demonstrated that contraception screening rates and right care improved with initiative interventions for servicewomen and nonservicewomen. A novel shared decision-making tool presented 18 contraception methods, risks and benefits, and tiered effectiveness that aided the majority of patients in a same-day decision with high patient satisfaction. Provider counseling was also simplified without delay in clinic time. Coerced Choice: Resigned Contraceptive Usership Among Individuals Affected by Reproductive Coercion
Discussions were moderated and recorded. Data were coded and then subjected to qualitative content analysis.ResultsTwenty community members participated. Participants described partner interference with reproductive and sexual health goals, including limitation of their contraceptive options. Although participants were able to access health care and use contraception as part of a goal to avoid pregnancy, they also reported dissatisfaction with their methods. Our review revealed that transmen and cisgender persons desire pregnancy at similar rates; however, transmen experience discrimination from health care systems and providers. Improved Self ‐Assessed Collaboration Through Interprofessional Education: Midwifery Students and Obstetrics and Gynecology Residents Learning Together
This study advanced knowledge about interprofessional education between midwifery students and obstetrics and gynecology residents. Midwifery students improved in self-assessed interprofessional and collaborative competencies. Most learners reported better interprofessional collaboration skills and were positive about future interprofessional learning.
