Prolonged vs short-term infusion of β-lactam antibiotics for the treatment of febrile neutropenia: a systematic review and meta-analysis
The optimization of the use of β-lactam antibiotics (BLA) via prolonged infusions in life-threatening complications such as febrile neutropenia (FN) is still controversial. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the efficacy of this strategy in onco-haematological patients with FN. (Source: Journal of Infection)

Safety and Immunogenicity against Ancestral, Delta and Omicron Virus Variants Following a Booster Dose of an Inactivated Whole-Virus COVID-19 Vaccine (VLA2001): Interim analysis of an open-label extension of the randomized, controlled, phase 3 COV-COMPARE trial
Booster doses for COVID-19 vaccinations have been shown to amplify the waning immune response after primary vaccination and to enhance protection against emerging variants of concern (VoCs). Here, we aimed to assess the immunogenicity and safety of a booster dose of an inactivated whole-virus COVID-19 vaccine (VLA2001) after primary vaccination with 2 doses of either VLA2001 or ChAdOx1-S (Oxford-Astra Zeneca), including the cross-neutralization capacity against the Delta and Omicron VoCs. Whole-genome sequencing reveals widespread presence of Staphylococcus capitis NRCS-A clone in neonatal units across the United Kingdom
Increased incidence of neonatal Staphylococcus capitis bacteraemia in summer 2020, London, raised suspicion of widespread multidrug-resistant clone NRCS-A. We set out to investigate the molecular epidemiology of this clone in neonatal units (NNUs) across the UK. (Source: Journal of Infection)

Neutralizing antibodies response to novel SARS-CoV-2 omicron sublineages in long-term care facility residents after the fourth dose of monovalent BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the etiologic agent of the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19), has been progressively adapting to the human host since the beginning of the epidemic1. The Omicron variant, first identified in South Africa in November 2021, is the best adapted variant of concern (VOC), combining highly efficient binding to the ACE-2 cell receptor and immune escape. Since its emergence, Omicron has evolved into a plethora of descendant sublineages, including BA.1, BA.2, BA.3, BA.4, and BA.5. (Source: Journal of Infection)

Nucleocapsid-Specific Antibodies as a Correlate of Protection against SARS-CoV-2 Reinfection in Children
SARS-CoV-2 infection confers relative protection against reinfection, albeit short-term and incomplete,1 and improved immune correlates and vaccine approaches are required to reduce the prevalence of reinfection. Spike-specific antibody titres associate with protection in adults2 whilst both infection3 and vaccination were protective in children during the initial phases of the pandemic.4 However, the omicron variant shows increased infectivity and protection afforded by ancestral-spike based vaccines has diminished markedly. Global treatment outcomes of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis in adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Historically, extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis has been notoriously difficult to treat with devasting outcomes. As we are coming to the end of an era where the 2006 extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis definitions and old treatment regimens are being replaced, we aimed to estimate the proportion of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis patients globally who achieved successful treatment outcomes.
