The relationship between intrauterine foetal growth trajectories and blood pressure in young adults

Cross-sectional comparison of office and ambulatory pulse wave velocity by two methods, and their changes after lifestyle or medical interventions in hypertension

Pulse wave velocity (PWV), the most accepted biomarker of arterial stiffening can be measured by different methods and in the past decade, its 24 h monitoring has also become available. Effect of dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers on blood pressure variability in the SPRINT trial: a treatment effects approach
Conclusion:
In the SPRINT trial, consistent use of a dihydropyridine CCB was associated with a 2 mmHg reduction in vvBPV. Validity and reliability of 1-h automated office blood pressure measurement for the diagnosis of hypertension
Conclusion:
One-hour automated blood pressure measurement is a valid, reliable method for the diagnosis of hypertension in undiagnosed patients. The diagnostic accuracy permits detection of white-coat and masked hypertension. To diagnose hypertension, the 1-h method or conventional home blood pressure monitoring should be used rather than office measurements.

Serum cortisol-to-cortisone ratio and 11-deoxycortisol are associated with hypertension and blood pressure in Chinese rural population: a cross sectional study
Objective:
The present study aimed to investigate the associations of cortisol-to-cortisone ratio (F/E) and 11-deoxycortisol (S) in hypertension and blood pressure among Chinese rural population.
Methods:
A total of 6233 participants from the Henan Rural Cohort Study were included. Serum cortisol (F), cortisone (E), and S were assessed using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. Generalized linear model (GLM) and logistic regression model were performed to assess the associations of F, E, F/E, and S with blood pressure and hypertension. Moreover, the sex specificity of the associations was assessed.

Impact of early glomerular filtration rate decline in response to antihypertensive treatment on risk of end-stage kidney disease and cardiovascular outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Blood pressure control, which can induce a slight decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), plays a nephron- and cardioprotective role. However, the more important early decline in GFR associated with antihypertensive therapy and strict blood pressure targets is still of concern.
