Extrahepatic approach for taping the common trunk of the middle and left hepatic veins or the left hepatic vein alone in laparoscopic hepatectomy (with videos)
ConclusionsThe surgical techniques for encircling and taping of the common trunk of the MHV and LHV and the LHV alone based on anatomical landmarks were feasible and could allow for efficient outflow control in laparoscopic hepatectomy. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences)

Comparison of infectious complications after spleen preservation versus splenectomy during laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for benign or low ‐grade malignant pancreatic tumors: A multicenter, propensity score‐matched analysis
ConclusionsSpleen preservation in LDP for benign or borderline malignant pancreatic diseases was advantageous in lowering the risk of infectious complications, specifically intraabdominal abscess. However, the risk of intraabdominal abscess may differ according to the level of surgeon ’s experience. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences)

Comparison between the difficulty of laparoscopic limited liver resections of tumors located in Segment 7 vs. Segment 8: an international multicenter propensity ‐score matched study
ConclusionDifferences in the outcomes of segments 7 and 8 resections suggest a greater difficulty of laparoscopic atypical resection of segment 7 compared to segment 8, and greater difficulty of segmentectomy 8 compared to segmentectomy 7. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences)

Figures do matter: a literature review on 4,587 robotic pancreatic resections and their implications on training
ConclusionsExperience with RPR is still quite limited. Despite high case volume is not sufficient to warrant optimal training opportunities, it is certainly a key component of every successful training program and is a major criterion for fellowship accreditation. From this review, it appears that only PD and DP can currently be taught at few institutions worldwide. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences)

A rare case of gastric adenocarcinoma with enteroblastic differentiation presenting pancreatic hepatoid adenocarcinoma metastases
We presented a rare case of gastric adenocarcinoma with enteroblastic differentiation with pancreatic hepatoid adenocarcinoma metastasis. Tumors in the primitive site of the stomach and metastatic site in the pancreas demonstrated different morphological characteristics. Endoscopic-assisted tissue acquisition played a pivotal role in presurgical assessment, but may still trap in the pitfall in such a rare and obfuscated pathological case. This case highlights the significance of being acquainted with the diversity of pancreatic tumors, which brings challenges to clinical differential diagnosis in practice. (Source: Journal...

Mesenchymal stem cells regulate M1 polarization of peritoneal macrophages through the CARD9 ‐NF‐κB signaling pathway in severe acute pancreatitis
In conclusion, MSCs regulate M1 polarization of peritoneal macrophages through the CARD9-NF-κB signaling pathway in SAP and transplantation of MSCs presents an effective treatment option for SAP. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences)
