Clinical outcome of ulcerative colitis with severe onset in children: a multicenter prospective cohort study
ConclusionsChildren with severe ulcerative colitis are likely to require powerful agents such as calcineurin inhibitors and biologic agents; sometimes colectomy ultimately proves necessary. Need for biologic agents in steroid-resistant patients might be reduced to an extent by interposing a therapeutic trial of CI rather than turning to biologic agents or colectomy immediately. Frequency of lymph node metastasis according to tumor location in clinical T1 early gastric cancer: supplementary analysis of the Japan Clinical Oncology Group study (JCOG0912)
ConclusionsThis supplementary analysis demonstrated that nodal metastasis from early gastric cancer is widely and disorderly not depending on the location. Thus, systematic lymph node dissection is necessary to cure the early gastric cancer. (Source: Journal of Gastroenterology)

RTP4 silencing provokes tumor-intrinsic resistance to immune checkpoint blockade in colorectal cancer
ConclusionsWe clarified thatRTP4 could be silenced by histone H3K9 methylation as the early event of ICB resistance.RTP4 expression could be a promising biomarker for predicting ICB response, and the  combination of epigenetic drugs and immune checkpoint inhibitors might exhibit synergistic effects on dMMR/MSI-H CRC. Diagnostic criteria and endoscopic and histological findings of autoimmune gastritis in Japan
AbstractThe Japanese diagnostic criteria for autoimmune gastritis (AIG) were established by the “Study Group on the establishment of diagnostic criteria for type A gastritis,” which is related to a workshop associated with the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) and the Committee of AIG Research Group (CARP). The criteria were set as follows: the cases of confirmed diagnosis are patients in whom either the endoscopic or histological findings, or both, meet the requirements for AIG and who are confirmed to be positive for gastric autoantibodies (either anti-parietal cell or anti-intrinsic factor antibodie...

Characteristics of synchronous and metachronous duodenal tumors and association with colorectal cancer: a supplementary analysis
ConclusionsThis study showed the incidence of synchronous and metachronous duodenal lesions. There was no significant difference in incidence of CAA and CRC among each group, but further studies are warranted. (Source: Journal of Gastroenterology)
