Comparing Pre- and Post-Operative Findings in Patients Who Underwent Laparoscopic Proximal Gastrectomy With a Double-Flap Technique: A Study on High-Resolution Manometry, Impedance pH Monitoring, and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy Findings
CONCLUSIONS: There is no significant functional difference in HRM and impedance pH monitoring tests after DFT. DFT appears to be useful in preserving LES function following proximal gastrectomy.PMID:38575507 | PMC:PMC10995827 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e1 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Impact of Smoking and Alcohol Consumption on Early-Onset Gastric Cancer Development in Young Koreans: A Population-Based Study
CONCLUSION: Smoking and alcohol consumption are significant risk factors for early-onset GC in young Koreans. Further studies are needed to investigate sex-based impact of alcohol consumption and smoking on GC incidence in young individuals.PMID:38575508 | PMC:PMC10995832 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e2 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Comparison of the Prognosis of Upper-Third Gastric Cancer With That of Middle and Lower-Third Gastric Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Upper-third gastric cancer shows extensive node metastasis compared to those located more distally in ≥T3 tumors. The upper third location is an independent prognostic factor for both OS and RFS and may have an adverse impact on RFS, particularly in patients with stage III gastric cancer.PMID:38575509 | PMC:PMC10995826 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e3 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

A Modified eCura System to Stratify the Risk of Lymph Node Metastasis in Undifferentiated-Type Early Gastric Cancer After Endoscopic Resection
CONCLUSIONS: The eCuraU system stratified the risk of LNM in patients with UD-EGC after ER. It is strongly recommended that high-risk patients undergo additional surgery.PMID:38575510 | PMC:PMC10995829 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e13 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Peritoneal Washing Cytology Positivity in Gastric Cancer: Role of Lymph Node Metastasis as a Risk Factor
CONCLUSIONS: Lymph node metastasis significantly affects CY(+) outcomes, particularly when the tumor is located on the PW side. Therefore, PWC should be considered not only in suspected serosal exposure cases but also in cases of lymph node metastasis.PMID:38575511 | PMC:PMC10995825 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e14 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Long-term Outcomes of Patients With Early Gastric Cancer Who Had Lateral Resection Margin-Positive Tumors Based on Pathology Following Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection
CONCLUSIONS: No difference was observed in the overall survival rate between observation and curative resection groups. Therefore, observation may be a possible option for incomplete ESD with pLMs if continuous follow-up is performed.PMID:38575512 | PMC:PMC10995830 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e15 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Real-world Nationwide Outcomes of Minimally Invasive Surgery for Advanced Gastric Cancer Based on Korean Gastric Cancer Association-Led Survey
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the Korean nationwide data, MIS for stage IB-III gastric cancer had better short-term outcomes than the open approach, including lower rates of wound complications, intra-abdominal abscesses, and cardiac problems.PMID:38575513 | PMC:PMC10995831 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e16 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Clinical Impact of Polyglycolic Acid Mesh to Reduce Pancreas-Related Complications After Minimally Invasive Surgery for Gastric Cancer: A Propensity Score Matching Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The use of PGA mesh significantly reduced pancreas-related complications after minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer and might thus benefit patients at risk of such complications.PMID:38575514 | PMC:PMC10995823 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e17 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)

Role of Recurrence Pattern Multiplicity in Predicting Post-recurrence Survival in Patients Who Underwent Curative Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Regardless of the specific recurrence pattern, multiple recurrence patterns emerged as independent prognostic factors for poor PRS compared with a single recurrence pattern.PMID:38575515 | PMC:PMC10995828 | DOI:10.5230/jgc.2024.24.e18 (Source: Journal of Gastric Cancer)
