Ethnopharmacology of Hypericum species in China: A comprehensive review on ethnobotany, phytochemistry and pharmacology
ConclusionsThere is a rich traditional knowledge regarding the ethnomedicinal uses of Hypericum species in China. Through phytochemical and pharmacological studies, several medicinal Hypericum from China have yielded many bioactive phytochemicals, possessing antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective properties. Hypericum species from China are potential sources of drugs to fight cancer and other chronic diseases. Remarkably, nearly half of Hypericum species in China have rarely been studied, and their ethnomedicinal potential have not been scientifically evaluated. Thus, in vitro mechanistic studies,...

Effect of phenolic compounds from Oenothera rosea on the kaolin-carrageenan induced arthritis model in mice
ConclusionsO. rosea produces different phenolic compounds capable of reducing the inflammation and secondary mechanical hyperalgesia produced by K/C administration. They also reduced proinflammatory cytokines and increased anti-inflammatory cytokines. Finally, NF-κB modulation was reduced by the administration of O. rosea. Therefore, O. rosea could be considered of interest in inflammatory and painful diseases.Graphical abstract (Source: Journal of Ethnopharmacology)

A network pharmacology approach to investigating the mechanism of Tanshinone IIA for the treatment of liver fibrosis
ConclusionOur study demonstrated that TIIA could significantly improve liver function, decrease liver injury, alleviate ECM accumulation, and attenuate HSC proliferation and activation, thus exerting an antifibrotic effect. The possible molecular mechanism involved MAPK, Wnt and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways via inhibiting c-Jun, p-c-Jun, c-Myc, CCND1, MMP9, P65, P–P65, PI3K and P38. Overall, our results suggest that TIIA could alleviate liver fibrosis through multiple targets and multiple signaling pathways and provide deep insight into the pharmacological mechanisms of TIIA in the treatment of hepatic fibrosis.Graphi...
