Outcomes of preoperative biliary drainage from a single tertiary center: Is there still a role for plastic stents?
CONCLUSIONSPBD using mostly PS was effective in reducing bilirubin levels and did not detrimentally affect time interval to surgery. Median time interval to stenting‐related complication occurred after 3 weeks, suggesting PS may be most useful for short‐term PBD. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

Gastric per oral endoscopic myotomy (G ‐POEM) for pylorospasm: case report and literature review
Abstract Gastric per oral endoscopic myotomy is a novel endoscopic technique, using mucosal incision and submucosal tunneling, to access and surgically divide the pyloric ring. It has been reported as a technically feasible procedure and minimally invasive therapy for refractory gastroparesis. We performed this procedure in a 63‐year‐old male patient with postoperative pylorospasm, with clinical success. Pylorospasm is one of pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying gastroparesis. As a subgroup of gastroparesis, pylorospasm should be identified to be an appropriate indication for gastric per oral endoscopic myotomy. (Sou...

Effect of baseline characteristics on response to proton pump inhibitors in patients with peptic ulcer bleeding
CONCLUSION The difference in rebleeding rates between the two studies is explained by the factors in our analysis, most importantly a classification of ASA grade IV, suggesting that other differences, including ethnicity, did not influence the rebleeding rate. Epidemiology of inflammatory bowel diseases from west to east
The incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) show considerable variation over time and across geographical regions. The first studies on the epidemiology of IBD were mainly from traditionally high‐incidence areas, such as North America, and northern and western Europe. In the last two decades, more and more studies have been published from Eastern European and Asian countries with increasing incidence rates from some regions. According to recent studies, the high incidence and prevalence of IBD in some Western countries is plateauing and in some Eastern countries increasing incidences have been report...

Enhanced education for bowel preparation before colonoscopy: A state ‐of‐the‐art review
Colonoscopy remains the mainstay in diagnosing and monitoring colorectal cancer and other colorectal lesions. The diagnostic efficiency of colonoscopy greatly depends on the quality of bowel preparation, which is closely associated with the patient’s compliance with the preparation instructions. In addition, the procedural requirements of bowel preparation are often complex and difficult for patients to comprehend and memorize, especially those with lower health literacy and motivation. Therefore, in recent years, many educational methods have been developed, such as educational booklets, cartoon visual aids, educational...
