Comparison of 10 ‐day levofloxacin bismuth‐based quadruple therapy and levofloxacin‐based triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori
CONCLUSIONSAdding bismuth subcitrate to levofloxacin‐based triple therapy was not more effective than not doing so, but no further side effects were noted. Both eradication therapies were equally safe and patients had the same tolerance to both regimens. Resistance rate to levofloxacin may be important when choosing second‐line therapy. Acute hemorrhagic rectal ulcer syndrome: Comparison with non ‐hemorrhagic rectal ulcer lower gastrointestinal bleeding
CONCLUSIONSApproximately 20% of patients with massive hematochezia had AHRU. Most patients with AHRU can be managed endoscopically. Low serum albumin level, poor ECOG performance status and prior constipation could be used in distinguishing patients with and without AHRU, facilitating the selection of optimal bowel preparation method for massive hematochezia. Clinical pattern and prevalence of upper gastrointestinal toxicity in patients abusing ketamine
CONCLUSIONSAlthough epigastric symptoms are unusual in the young population, upper gastrointestinal toxicity was highly prevalent in those inhaling ketamine. Enquiries about ketamine abuse are recommended when assessing young patients with epigastric symptoms. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

A pilot study analyzing a 1 ‐liter polyethylene glycol‐based bowel preparation before colonoscopy for selected inpatients
CONCLUSIONSOur data support that the schedule protocol proposed in this study enables a clear diagnosis in most of the inpatients facing a high risk for poor bowel preparation and no statistical differences are found between the two groups in terms of successful bowel cleansing achieved. Therefore, the same‐day, low dose 1L‐PEG bowel preparation could be introduced for selected inpatients. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

Inflammatory Bowel Disease's Specific Changes of Enteric Mycobiota and Virome
Abstract One of the important features of IBD is dysbiosis of the gut microbiota. It is well documented that changes in the commensal bacterial population drives IBD development. However, the function of the fungal and viral community in IBD is still unclear. Moreover, treatment of IBD patients with opportunistic infections is still controversial. This review focuses on how the enteric mycobiota and virome changes during the process of IBD and discusses potential treatment strategies that open new insights into the treatment of IBD in humans. A pseudoaneurysm diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasonography via color doppler flow mapping and contrast ‐enhancement
Abstract The use of contrast agents in endoscopic ultrasound has been shown to improve the characterization of the vasculature inside the lesion1. Meanwhile, color doppler flow mapping could offer imperative information on blood flow2. A 36‐year‐old female came to our hospital 7 months ago. She complained of recurrent abdominal pain for 3 years with irregular episode. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

Epidemiology of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding in China: a single ‐center series and comprehensive analysis of literature
ConclusionsInflammatory lesions, neoplasm, vascular lesions and diverticula or intestinal duplication were the most common causes of OGIB in China. While in pediatric patients, diverticula or intestinal duplication, vascular lesions and Crohn's disease were prevalent. Also, etiologies were distributed differently across areas in China. Inadequate Sunlight Exposure in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
CONCLUSIONSPatients with IBD are significantly less exposed to sunlight then controls in our Mediterranean Country, often to an extent that may impairs Vitamin D activation. An increased, responsible ultraviolet exposure, favoring adequate Vitamin D concentrations, may prove beneficial in IBD patents, also in those geographical areas in which this risk factor is not generally taken into consideration. Clinical factors are associated with vitamin D levels in IBD patients ‐ a retrospective analysis
ConclusionVitamin D deficiency is a common phenomenon in IBD patients. However, certain clinical situations lead to significantly lower vitamin D levels and might therefore require closer monitoring for vitamin D deficiency. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)
