Educational disparities in the associations between self ‐monitoring of blood glucose and glycemic control in type 2 diabetes patients in Xiamen, China
ConclusionsSex‐specific educational disparities exist in the association between SMBG and glycemic control. More detailed guidelines for SMBG according to the subject’s socioeconomic position and sex are required. (Source: Journal of Diabetes)

Identification of stress ‐related microRNA biomarkers in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsThe present meta‐analysis revealed that 16 stress‐related miRNAs were significantly dysregulated in T2DM. MiR‐148b, miR‐223, miR‐130a, miR‐19a, miR‐26b and miR‐27b were selected as potential circulating biomarkers of T2DM. In addition, miR‐146a and miR‐21 were identified as potential tissue biomarkers of T2DM. (Source: Journal of Diabetes)

Moving beyond HbA1C and plasma glucose levels to understand the glycaemic status in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract Glycaemic status of patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is widely assessed using glycated haemoglobin (HbA1C). The β‐cell‐centric model presupposes that all diabetes, including T2DM originates from a common denominator, the abnormal pancreatic‐β‐cell, and insulin resistance might not necessarily be the primary defect.1 (Source: Journal of Diabetes)
