LIGHT protein: A novel gingival crevicular fluid biomarker associated with increased probing depth after periodontal surgery
CONCLUSIONS: LIGHT can potentially detect subjects at high risk of periodontitis recurrence after surgical treatment. Moreover, LIGHT induces the expression of inflammatory cytokines and tissue-degrading enzymes in gingival fibroblasts.PMID:38390754 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13964 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

ACES: A new framework for the application of the 2018 periodontal status classification scheme to epidemiological survey data
CONCLUSIONS: ACES is a framework to be used in epidemiological studies of periodontal status that (i) have been completed, and in which stage and grade according to the 2018 classification are inferred retroactively, or (ii) are being planned. Consistent use of the proposed comprehensive approach will facilitate the comparability of periodontitis prevalence estimates across studies.PMID:38385950 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13965 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Periodontal pockets: Predictors for site-related worsening after non-surgical therapy-A long-term retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Over 75% of PPD remained unchanged or increased during SPC. Distopalatal FI, TM Degrees I-III and residual pockets after APT lead to worsening of periodontal pockets.PMID:38385991 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13957 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Isolation, identification and osteogenic capability analysis of mesenchymal stem cells derived from different layers of human maxillary sinus membrane
CONCLUSIONS: This study identified and isolated two different types of MSCs from hMSMs. Both MSCs served as good potential candidates for bone regeneration.PMID:38379293 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13956 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Flapless early implant placement into the uncalcified provisional matrix-Does it lead to osseointegration of the implant? A preclinical study
CONCLUSIONS: Flapless early implant placement into posterior extraction sockets was as effective as an open flap approach in conjunction with GBR. Mineralization of the socket seems to occur irrespective of the presence of dental implants or biomaterials.PMID:38356227 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13963 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

The potential causal path between periodontitis stage diagnosis and vegetable consumption is mediated by loss of posterior functional tooth units and masticatory function
CONCLUSIONS: Periodontitis showed a potential cause-effect pathway affecting vegetable intake across cultures and age groups. The size of the effect is potentially of clinical and public health significance. Additional studies, including intervention trials, are required to test this potential mechanism linking oral health to nutrition.PMID:38348766 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13953 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Clinical attachment loss is cross-sectionally associated with elevated glucose among adults without diabetes
CONCLUSIONS: i-CAL (vs. fm-CAL) was associated with elevated fasting glucose and prediabetes, whereas i-PD (vs. fm-PD) was associated with insulin resistance. Future studies are needed to examine periodontal disease and incident prediabetes.PMID:38343130 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13945 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)
