Patient-reported outcomes following dental implant rehabilitation according to reason for missing teeth: A survey from a Norwegian population 8  years following treatment
CONCLUSIONS: In a Norwegian population rehabilitated with dental implants in 2014, satisfaction with the treatment outcome and the aesthetic outcome was high, irrespective of the reason for missing teeth. Self-report of complications and lack of pre-treatment information were the strongest predictors of inferior patient satisfaction and also predicted inferior oral function.PMID:37915235 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13895 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Improved positional accuracy of dental implant placement using a haptic and machine-vision-controlled collaborative surgery robot: A pilot randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: Robot-assisted implant placement enabled greater positional accuracy of the implant compared to freehand placement in this pilot trial. The robotic system should be further developed to simplify surgical procedures and improve accuracy and be validated in properly sized trials assessing the full spectrum of relevant outcomes.PMID:37872750 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13893 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Doppler ultrasonographic evaluation of tissue revascularization following connective tissue graft at implant sites
CONCLUSIONS: Doppler ultrasonography shows tissue perfusion changes occurring at implant sites augmented with CTG. The main differences in tissue perfusion between CAF and TUN were observed at the interproximal sites, with early perfusion associated with clinical and volumetric outcomes at 12 months.PMID:37861110 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13889 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Selective BET inhibitor RVX-208 ameliorates periodontal inflammation and bone loss
CONCLUSIONS: RVX-208 regulated both upstream (inflammatory cytokine production) and downstream (osteoclast differentiation) events that lead to periodontal tissue destruction, suggesting that it may be a promising 'epi-drug' for the prevention of periodontitis.PMID:37855275 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13887 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Association between periodontal diseases and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Evidence from sequential cross-sectional and prospective cohort studies based on UK Biobank
CONCLUSIONS: Periodontal diseases are associated with airflow limitation and elevated COPD incidence. Maintaining good periodontal health in patients with chronic bronchitis and emphysema may help prevent the onset of COPD.PMID:37850252 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13890 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)
