CCR2 is a potential therapeutic target in peri-implantitis
CONCLUSIONS: CCR2 may be a potential target for peri-implantitis treatment by harnessing the immune-inflammatory response to modulate the local inflammation and osteoclast activity.PMID:38111083 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13916 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Recombinant bone matrix maintains the graft space, induces vascularized bone regeneration and preserves canine tooth extraction socket structure
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that RBM induced controlled active bone regeneration and preserved the extraction socket structure in a canine model. Bioresorbable RBM engineered without animal or human source materials presents a novel bone graft category with robust bone regenerative property.PMID:38110189 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13915 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

The transcriptomic response to cannabidiol of Treponema denticola, a phytocannabinoid-resistant periodontal pathogen
CONCLUSIONS: Oral spirochetes, unlike some other periodontal bacteria, are resistant to physiological doses of phytocannabinoids. Investigation of CBD-induced transcriptomic changes provided insight into the resistance mechanisms of this important periodontal pathogen. These findings should be considered in the context of the reported enhanced susceptibility to periodontitis in cannabis users.PMID:38105008 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13892 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Serum lipoprotein subfractions are associated with the periodontal status: Results from the population-based cohort SHIP-TREND
CONCLUSIONS: Several associations between serum lipoprotein subfractions and periodontitis were observed. As the underlying biochemical mechanisms remain unclear, further research is needed.PMID:38098273 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13902 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Is transmucosal healing of an implant as effective as submerged healing when simultaneous guided bone regeneration is performed? A preclinical study
CONCLUSIONS: The mode of healing (transmucosal vs. submerged) does not influence bone regeneration at implant sites. The clinician may therefore choose the approach based on further clinical and patient-specific parameters.PMID:38087817 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13913 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Single-cell sequencing identifies inflammation-promoting fibroblast-neutrophil interaction in peri-implantitis
CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicated that the predominance of CXCL8+ fibroblast-CXCR2+ neutrophil interaction might underline the enhanced host response in peri-implantitis compared with periodontitis. This information offers a molecular basis by which fibroblast and neutrophil subtypes might be diagnostically and therapeutically targeted in peri-implantitis.PMID:38088448 | DOI:10.1111/jcpe.13912 (Source: Journal of Clinical Periodontology)

Interdental oral hygiene interventions elicit varying compositional microbiome changes in naturally occurring gingivitis: Secondary data analysis from a clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: Reduction in gingival inflammation at 4 weeks within the water-jet groups is accompanied by slight but critical changes in microbiome composition. Although biodiversity does not substantially change within 4 weeks during the resolution of naturally induced gingivitis, significant relative increases in commensal early colonizers such as Streptococcus, Veillonella and Fusobacterium were accompanied by a shift towards a less anaerobic microbiota associated with return to health. These changes were contingent upon the type of interdental hygiene, with Group 1 exhibiting more significant alterations in microbiome c...
