Advancing the case for nurse practitioner ‐based models to accelerate scale‐up of HIV pre‐exposure prophylaxis
ConclusionsThere are four main evidence ‐based arguments that can be used to advance policy‐level and practice‐level changes that harness the assets of nurse practitioners in accelerating the scale‐up of HIV PrEP.Relevance to clinical practiceGlobal public health goals for HIV prevention cannot be achieved without the broader adoption of PrEP as a prevention practice among healthcare providers. NPs are the best hope for closing this gap in access for the populations that are most vulnerable to HIV infection. (Source: Journal of Clinical Nursing)

Broken expectations of early motherhood: mothers ’ experiences of early discharge after birth and readmission of their infants
ConclusionsOur study points out that mothers wish for a tranquil beginning with their infants at home. Some already experienced problems at home while others first were confronted at the check ‐up at the outpatient clinic. Yet the common denominator was that the mothers experienced broken expectations regarding early motherhood when facing readmission. Readmission may influence the initial process either positively or negatively, depending on how the mothers experience their challenges and how the health care professionals support them. This highlights the importance of the way in which health care professionals support ...

Changing from 12 ‐hr to 8‐hr day shifts: A qualitative exploration of effects on organising nursing care and staffing
ConclusionNursing staff organised care on 8 ‐hr shifts similarly to 12‐hr shifts but then felt dissatisfied with their care delivery and handovers. Nursing staff on both wards approached care in a task‐focused way. There were concerns that adopting an 8‐hr shift pattern negatively affected recruitment and retention.Relevance to clinical practiceChanging from 12  hr to 8 hr day shifts may affect nursing staff satisfaction with their care delivery and handovers, and have a negative effect on staffing wards.
