A modified technique for the application of ultrasound-guided costoclavicular brachial plexus block for elbow surgery leading to differential block
Brachial plexus blocks (BPB) are a frequently utilised regional anesthesia technique used not only for the anesthesia maintenance of upper extremity surgical procedures but also for their postoperative analgesia effect [1,2]. BPB from the costoclavicular space is a new technique whose application, sonoanatomy and dynamics were described by Li et al. and there are only a few studies [2,3]. In both the medial and lateral approaches, local anesthetic (LA) is injected into the costoclavicular space in the middle of the three cords of the brachial plexus [2,4]. Thoracic paravertebral catheterization for more than one year: A report of mastodynia
Neurological complications are common consequences of electric injuries [1]. Nerve damage resulting from electric injury could cause neuropathic pain [2].The use of thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) and catheter was successful in relieving pain for post herpetic neuralgia [3]. Videolaryngoscopy could decrease claims associated with dental injury
Our hospital covers patients from rural areas where patients have low accessibility to dental health services. Thus, large proportions of our patients have dental problems. They have many dentures and crowns on teeth. They also have gum diseases. For these reasons, a couple of dental injuries have occurred each year for many years. Thus, we have received many anesthetic objections from patients. In the informed consents, we have described the possibility of damage to the teeth. Nevertheless, patients have complaints against the hospital for dental injuries. (Source: Journal of Clinical Anesthesia)

Sinus venous thrombosis following central neuraxial block: A difficult and often late differential diagnosis of postpartum headache
In this report, after an informed written conse nt obtained from the patient, we describe the case of a woman who developed such a complication several days after hospital discharge and we depict how we have implemented a system to rapidly identify the symptoms of a neuraxial analgesia-related complication. Comparison between ultrasound guided technique and digital palpation technique for radial artery cannulation in adult patients: An updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Possible advantages and risks associated with ultrasound guided radial artery cannulation in-comparison to digital palpation guided method in adult patients are not fully known. We have compared ultrasound guided radial artery cannulation with digital palpation technique in this meta-analysis. (Source: Journal of Clinical Anesthesia)

Continuous erector spinae plane block for an open pyeloplasty in an infant
Since its initial description in September 2016 [1], the erector spinae plane (ESP) block has garnered widespread interest amongst regional anesthesiologists. A facial plane block where local anesthetic is injected between the erector spinae muscle (ESM) and the underlying transverse process (TP), this block has been used successfully for chronic pain and perioperative analgesia in adults [1,2]. Experiences with children, however, are limited thus far [3,4]. Until now, only 2 reported cases of continuous ESP block in children exist, both in patients undergoing a thoracotomy [4,5]. Recommendations for Preoperative Management of Frailty from the Society for Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement (SPAQI)
Frailty is an age-related, multi-dimensional state of decreased physiologic reserve that results in diminished resiliency and increased vulnerability to stressors. It has proven to be an excellent predictor of unfavorable health outcomes in the older surgical population. There is agreement in recommending that a frailty evaluation should be part of the preoperative assessment in the elderly. However, the consensus is still building with regards to how it should affect perioperative care. The Society for Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement (SPAQI) convened experts in the fields of gerontology, anesthesiology an...

A comparison between video laryngoscopy and direct laryngoscopy for endotracheal intubation in the emergency department: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Direct laryngoscopy is the most commonly used modality for endotracheal intubation in the emergency department. Video laryngoscopy may improve glottic view during laryngoscopy and intubation success rate in such patients. This meta-analysis has been designed to compare clinical efficacy of video laryngoscopy with direct laryngoscopy for endotracheal intubation in the emergency department.
