A Kenyan Village As An Innovative Learning Environment
ABSTRACT: Cultural sensitivity and improved communication and assessment skills for undergraduate nursing students are the primary aims of a medical mission experience based on an innovative learning environment in a rural African village. Nursing faculty implement components of Irby's Conceptual Framework for Learning Environments to facilitate students' integration and understanding of didactic information and the holistic practice of nursing while decreasing students' dependence on technology. Self-Care: A Stewardship Perspective
ABSTRACT: What does it mean to practice self-care? How do we care effectively and compassionately for our patients while maintaining our own physical and emotional health? Nursing associations have incorporated the importance of self-care into models for good nursing practice. The perspective on self-care can change from one of self-focus to one of stewardship. Self-care from a stewardship view reflects what God is already doing to take care of us. (Source: Journal of Christian Nursing)

Supporting Struggling Students Through Therapeutic Communication
ABSTRACT: Although nursing faculty teach students the basics of therapeutic communication for patient care, faculty may be overlooking the significance of using therapeutic communication with their students. When nursing students experience stress and mental health concerns such as sadness, anxiety, negative thoughts, and depression, instructors need to assess these problems and implement therapeutic communication strategies. Faculty who recognize symptoms and engage students can promote healthy relationships and positive academic outcomes while exemplifying Christlike care for their students. Dedication in a Difficult Context: Faith-Based Nursing in Haiti

These conditions cry out for support of nurses' self-ca...
