Muhammer Ergenç, Tevfik Kıvılcım UprakJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2022 18(9):460-462 Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It represents a wide range of clinical tumors with different clinical presentations, locations, and prognoses. Retroperitoneal GISTs are rarely seen and may be associated with the GI system. In this case report, we present the laparoscopic excision of retroperitoneal ileal GIST in a patient who was admitted to the outpatient clinic with abdominal pain. (Source: J...

A prospective randomized comparison of simultaneous integrated boost with sequential boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy in locally advanced head and neck cancer
Conclusion: SIB and SEQ arms were comparable in terms of OS and DFS. However, the acute toxicities were higher in the SIB arm, although the difference was not significant, compared to the SEQB arm. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Outcomes of feeding jejunostomy after pancreaticoduodenectomy: A single-center experience
Conclusion: FJT was useful in improving nutritional intake and status. Although FJT was associated with minor self-limiting complications, they could be managed by simple bedside or office treatment. As such, results of this study support the safety and efficacy of the FJT protocol used in the authors' department for nutritional management. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Hepatocyte paraffin-1, CD10, and CD34 immunostaining as a diagnostic aid in cytologic diagnosis of hepatic cancer
Conclusions: The staining patterns of HepPar-1, CD10, and CD34 are highly specific in distinguishing hepatocellular carcinoma from metastasis. These three immunomarkers should be included in the immunocytochemical panel for differentiating hepatocellular carcinoma from metastatic carcinoma to the liver. A clinicoepidemiological and management profile of metastatic carcinoma gallbladder in the northeast part of Indian patients in a tertiary care center
Conclusion: In India, unfortunately, many patients present very late during the course of their illness. There is a need for the development of effective chemotherapy or targeted therapy and also there is an unmet need for patients' education. There has been an increase in the incidence of this malignancy, especially in the Northeast part of India; hence, it is the need of the hour to study various epidemiological and causative factors of the disease. Furthermore, the development of therapies for the effective management of this malignancy is really required. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Pattern of expression of CDX2 in colorectal cancer and its role in prognosis
Conclusion: Loss of CDX2 expression is associated with advanced stage, higher tumor grade, presence of LVSI, worse PFS, and OS and thereby functions as a poor prognostic factor in CRC. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Immunohistochemistry on cell blocks for diagnosis of malignancy in abdomino-pelvic lesions and ascitic fluid cytology at a rural cancer center: A paradigm shift in cancer management
Conclusion: A panel of IHC markers, though not specific alone when applied to cell blocks in a careful clinical and morphological context leads to a rapid and accurate diagnosis. This in turn obviates the need for biopsy in severely ill patients. An astute pathologist can provide accurate results with judicious use of IHC on cell blocks and may bring a sigh of relief for many cancer patients by averting the need for biopsy. Chemoradiotherapy for elderly patients with rectal cancer: A single-institution study
Conclusion: The results of this study suggested that the selection of treatment modalities for older patients with RC should be based on performance status and not age. RT and CRT were safe treatment modalities for older patients with RC, particularly for those who could not undergo surgery. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Predictors of pathological complete response following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer
Conclusion: Older age, longer interval between NACRT and surgery, node-negative disease and favorable tumor grade help in achieving better pCR rates. Awareness of these variables can be valuable in counseling patients regarding prognosis and treatment options. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)
