Pancreatic intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy for the treatment of patients with advanced pancreatic carcinoma: A pilot study
Conclusions: In this study, the dose of the chemotherapeutics and the schedule of the transcatheter pancreatic arterial chemotherapy perfusion were shown to be safe, well-tolerated, and effective for the relief of clinical symptoms and CBR. These advantages can quickly establish the treatment belief and improve patient quality of life. This regimen requires further investigation in patients with advanced pancreatic carcinoma. Investigating the effect of ARHGEF10L gene on tumor growth in gastric cancer in a nude mouse model using quantitative MRI parameters
Conclusions: The ADC and D values of the quantitative IVIM imaging parameters can be used to effectively assess the growth of gastric cancer in nude mice, suggesting that ARHGEF10L may promote the growth of tumor cells. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Tumor-suppressive role of microfibrillar associated protein 4 and its clinical significance as prognostic factor and diagnostic biomarker in hepatocellular carcinoma
Conclusions: MFAP4 expression was significantly lower both in sera and tissue of HCC patients. MFAP4 can serve as molecular marker for HCC diagnosis and prognosis. Additionally, MFAP4 acted as an important HCC tumor suppressor by inducing S phase arrest, and promoting apoptosis, cell migration, and invasion. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

The efficacy of postoperative radiotherapy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis
Zexu Wang, Baixia Yang, Ping Zhan, Li Wang, Bing WanJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2022 18(7):1910-1918 The controversy over the efficacy of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) has existed for a long time. The present study reassessed the overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) data to investigate whether PORT can improve survival in resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. The following databases were used to perform literature search: PubMed, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Embase (from January 1, 1986 to July 5, 2021). The results of overall su...

Analysis of risk factors related to acute radiation dermatitis in breast cancer patients during radiotherapy
Conclusions: ARD in response to postoperative radiotherapy in patients with breast cancer is common and mild. Clinicians and patients need to cultivate awareness of the potential risk factors involved and then intervene to alleviate skin reactions and improve the quality of life. Efficacy and safety of 2-micron laser versus conventional trans-urethral resection of bladder tumor for non-muscle-invasive bladder tumor: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: Compared with TURBT, 2-micron laser may be safer and more effective for NMIBT management. However, these conclusions need to be validated through more high-quality RCTs because of the quality limitations and publication bias of the included studies. Efficacy and adverse reactions of intra-arterial chemotherapy in patients with bladder cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Junjie Ji, Yu Yao, Fengju Guan, Lijiang Sun, Guiming ZhangJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2022 18(7):1884-1893 This meta-analysis investigated the efficacies of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) plus intravesical chemotherapy (IVC) versus IVC alone in patients with non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), and preoperative IAC versus preoperative intravenous chemotherapy (IV) in patients with bladder cancer. We also assessed the adverse reactions (ARs) of IAC. We searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases for English articles published before April 2021. The qual...

Useful genes for predicting the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization in hepatocellular carcinoma
Yuan Guo, Hongtao Hu, Shijun Xu, Weili Xia, Hailiang LiJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2022 18(7):1860-1866 Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is generally used to treat patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a common and deadly cancer; however, its efficacy varies according to factors such as tumor volume, stage, serum alpha-fetoprotein level, and chosen feeding artery. In addition, gene-related factors have been recently suggested to be involved in the regulation and prediction of TACE outcomes. Accordingly, genes could serve as effective biomarkers to select patients who can benefit from TACE. Th...
