Association Among Friendship Skills, Involvement in After-School Activities, and Flourishing for Adolescents with Asthma and Comorbid Emotional and Behavioral Problems
CONCLUSIONS: Abilities to make and keep friends were related to flourishing, indicating that peer support is a resilience factor. On the other hand, it was not clear that involvement in after-school activities was a resilience factor and more research about factors constituting successful after-school involvement for adolescents with asthma is needed. Future research, illuminating how social support from peers and involvement in activities promote flourishing will extend knowledge.PMID:37937849 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2023.2281624 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

Evaluation of the Implementation of Evidence-Based Pediatric Asthma Exacerbation Treatments in a Regional Consortium of Emergency Medical Services Agencies
CONCLUSIONS: Indicators of asthma severity and time since the protocol change were significantly associated with EMS administration of systemic corticosteroids to pediatric asthma patients. The two-year time for maximal Reach suggests further work is required to understand how to best implement evidence-based pediatric asthma treatments in EMS.PMID:37930329 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2023.2280917 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

Association between Asthma, Obesity, and Metabolic Syndrome in Adolescents and Young Adults
Conclusions. Our results show the association between MetS and asthma is stronger in AYAs with BMI-defined obesity. Efforts to prevent and treat obesity may reduce MetS occurrence in AYAs with asthma.PMID:37930803 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2023.2280763 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

Pharmacological treatment of asthma in Sweden from 2005 to 2015
CONCLUSIONS: The use of ICS + LABA both for maintenance treatment and symptom relief has increased over time. Despite this, the problem of low use of ICS and high use of SABA remains.PMID:37910450 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2023.2272798 (Source: Journal of Asthma)
