Oocyte cryopreservation with in vitro maturation for fertility preservation in girls at risk for ovarian insufficiency
ConclusionsOocyte cryopreservation appears to be feasible and safe in girls as young as 12  years of age at risk for POI The utility of IVM increases the yield of cryopreserved mature oocytes. Prior exposure to chemotherapy or low ovarian reserve should not be an automatic reason to exclude these girls from FP consideration. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

Long-term effect of chemotherapy after ovarian decortication on the ovarian function in women surviving cancer
ConclusionOvarian decortication plus chemotherapy had a deleterious effect when assessed at a stage of stabilized ovarian recovery, but whether ovarian decortication had a specific impact cannot be revealed from our data. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

Clinicians ’ perspectives on barriers and facilitators to sperm banking in adolescent males with cancer: a mixed-methods study
ConclusionBarriers to adolescent sperm banking remain, even among clinicians who have completed Oncofertility training. Although training is one factor necessary to facilitate banking, structural and psychosocial barriers persist. Given the complexities of offering sperm banking to pediatric populations, continued efforts are needed to mitigate structural barriers and develop strategies to facilitate decision-making before childhood cancer treatment. PGT-A mosaicism based on NGS intermediate copy numbers: is it time to stop reporting them?
AbstractMosaicism represents a genuine real phenomenon, but its high prevalence and undisclosed clinical significance, stress the burden on genetic counseling and the management of PGT-A results. Even though the assumption of mosaicism from NGS intermediate chromosome copy number profiles may represent a reasonable interpretation, other potential technical reasons, including amplification bias, contamination, biopsy technique, or the analysis algorithms,  may constitute alternative explanations. Thresholds confining mosaicism ranges are established according to models employing mixtures of normal and abnormal cells with s...

Glucose and redox metabolism in meiotically blocked in vitro grown mouse antral follicles
ConclusionsCurrent results suggest that in addition to impaired nuclear maturation, metabolic disruption is present in MB follicles. MB follicles either compensate with high levels of TCA cycle and PPP activities in CCs, or are unable to drive proper levels of aerobic metabolism, which might be due to the current culture conditions. Preservation of fertility in female and male prepubertal patients diagnosed with cancer
AbstractOver the past two decades, the importance of fertility preservation has grown not only in the realm of medical and clinical patient care, but also in the field of basic and applied research in human reproduction. With advancements in cancer treatments resulting in higher rates of patient survival, it is crucial to consider the quality of life post-cure. Therefore, fertility preservation must be taken into account prior to antitumor treatments, as it can significantly impact a patient ’s future fertility. For postpubertal patients, gamete cryopreservation is the most commonly employed preservation strategy. Howeve...

Impact of human ovarian tissue manipulation on follicles: evidence of a potential first wave of follicle activation during fertility preservation procedures
ConclusionOur data prove that ovarian tissue manipulation significantly impacts follicle dynamics by stimulating the PI3K and Hippo signaling pathways involved in primordial follicle activation. Further experimental evidence must nevertheless be gathered to understand and gain control of follicle activation mechanisms in non-physiological conditions (like ovarian tissue manipulation), in order to optimize fertility preservation and restoration strategies. Attitude of BRCA1/2 mutation carriers towards fertility preservation, family planning and preimplantation genetic testing for primary prevention of breast and ovarian cancer in the next generation
ConclusionThis study emphasizes that despite a substantial proportion of women admitting that mutation detection affected their family planning and high acceptance rates, performance of fertility preservation and PGT remained exceedingly low. Increasing the knowledge and awareness of these issues is important and should be included in multidisciplinary counselling. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

High-resolution PGT-A results in incidental identification of patients with small pathogenic copy number variants
ConclusionHigh-throughput high-resolution SNP array –based PGT-A has the ability to detect previously unknown and clinically significant parental deletions, duplications, and translocations. The use of cost-effective SNP array–based PGT-A methods may improve the effectiveness of PGT by identifying and preventing previously unknown pathogenic CNVs in children born to patients seeking in vitro fertilization.
