Anatomic evaluation to compare the dye spread with ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group (PENG) injection with or without an additional suprainguinal fascia iliaca (SIFI) injection in soft embalmed cadavers
ConclusionThe study findings indicate that combined PENG  + SIFI injections lead to an extensive craniocaudal and longitudinal spread along the iliacus muscle. We perceive that the combination of these two injections will have a superior clinical outcome. (Source: Journal of Anesthesia)

Neuraxial clonidine is not associated with lower post-cesarean opioid consumption or pain scores in parturients on chronic buprenorphine therapy: a retrospective cohort study
ConclusionIn parturients receiving chronic buprenorphine therapy at the time of cesarean delivery, neuraxial clonidine administration was not associated with decreased postoperative opioid consumption, median pain scores, or the need for intraoperative supplementation. The 90% effective concentration of alfentanil combined with 0.075% ropivacaine for epidural labor analgesia: a single-center, prospective, double-blind sequential allocation biased-coin design
ConclusionWhen combined with ropivacaine 0.075%, the EC90 of alfentanil for epidural labor analgesia is 3.85  μg/mL in patients undergoing labor analgesia. (Source: Journal of Anesthesia)

Comparison of prophylaxis strategy for postoperative nausea and vomiting and its incidence before and after the implementation of 5-hydroxytryptamine 3 in surgical setting: a single-center, retrospective study
ConclusionThe availability of ondansetron increased the number of patients with adequate PONV prophylaxis, but did not decrease the incidence of PONV. (Source: Journal of Anesthesia)

Assessment of pre-extubating recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy using ultrasound in postoperative patients with esophageal cancer: a prospective observational study
ConclusionThese results indicate a lack of versatility of the ultrasound examination based on the low kappa coefficients. However, with an experienced examiner, ultrasound can serve as a non-invasive examination that can be performed before extubation with high accuracy and specificity for diagnosis of postoperative RLN paralysis.
