Chronic neutropenia in childhood: experience of a tertiary center
CONCLUSION: AIN prevalence was 2 %. Most cases were first evaluated by a pediatric immunologist or rheumatologist rather than a pediatric hematologist. This study highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving a pediatric immunologist, rheumatologist, and hematologist.PMID:38182128 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.12.003 (Source: Jornal de Pediatria)

Relationships between internet addiction, quality of life and sleep problems: a structural equation modeling analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Adolescents with higher levels of internet addiction had lower perceptions of quality of life and higher daytime sleepiness. Moreover, sleep duration had a positive correlation with quality of life. Given its detrimental effects on quality of life and daytime sleepiness, parents should better supervise internet use in adolescents.PMID:38182125 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.09.015 (Source: Jornal de Pediatria)

Diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders in children and adolescents
CONCLUSION: ED has shown an increase in prevalence, as well as a reduction in the age of diagnosed patients, requiring adequate detection and referral by pediatricians. The treatment requires a specialized multidisciplinary team and is generally long-lasting for adequate recovery of affected individuals.PMID:38158193 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.12.001 (Source: Jornal de Pediatria)

Reference intervals for serum immunoglobulins G, M and E levels in Brazilian children aged 1 to 10 years: a population-based study
CONCLUSION: RI for serum concentrations of IgG, IgM, and IgE were established for Brazilian children aged 1-10 years. This definition will be useful for Brazilian physicians, who will have more adequate parameters for their clinical decision-making.PMID:38145629 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.11.006 (Source: Jornal de Pediatria)
