Correlation Between Corneal Nerve Density and Symptoms of Small Fiber Neuropathy in Patients With Fibromyalgia: The Confounding Role of Severe Anxiety or Depression
Conclusions Small fiber neuropathy and dysautonomia symptoms correlate with corneal denervation in women with fibromyalgia without severe anxiety or depression. This clinical-pathological association reinforces fibromyalgia as a dysautonomia-related neuropathic pain syndrome. Severe anxiety or depression distorts fibromyalgia symptoms. Practical point Corneal confocal microscopy may become a useful procedure to study fibromyalgia patients. (Source: JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology)

A National Survey Across Primary Care Pediatricians Regarding Immunization Views and Practices in Children With Rheumatic Diseases
Conclusions Variation in opinion and clinical practice exists. Overall, although general pediatricians are informed regarding efficacy and adverse effects of immunizations in patients with RDs, there are steps to be made from principle to practice. Vaccinating these children is of vital importance, and primary care pediatricians should be updated regarding existing guidelines referring to this field. The aims of this study were to describe the knowledge, attitude, and current practice of general pediatricians working in primary care regarding vaccination in children with rheumatic diseases (RDs) and to identify barr...

Atypical Large Vessel Vasculitis Presenting With Cholestatic Liver Abnormalities: Case-Based Review
Clinicians usually easily recognize cranial manifestations of giant cell arteritis (GCA) such as new-onset headache, jaw claudication, scalp tenderness, and abrupt changes in visual acuity or blindness; however, when presented with an aberrant clinical course, the diagnosis becomes more elusive. In addition to temporal arteries and other extracranial branches of the carotid arteries, large vessel vasculitis (LVV) can also affect other blood vessels including coronary arteries, aorta with its major branches, intracranial blood vessels, and hepatic arteries. Clinical Manifestations and Diagnosis of Axial Spondyloarthritis
Conclusions A discussion of challenges associated with diagnosis is presented, including use and interpretation of imaging, reasons for diagnostic delays, differences in disease presentation by sex, and differential diagnoses of axSpA. Future Research Directions The early diagnosis of axSpA and advances in available therapeutic options have improved patient care and disease management, but delays in diagnosis and treatment remain common. Additional research and education are critical for recognizing diverse axSpA presentations and optimizing management early in the course of disease. (Source: JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology)

Stages of Lyme Arthritis
Conclusions and Future Research Lyme arthritis provides unique insights into the complex interplay between microbes and host immunity. The progression from localized erythema migrans to early disseminated disease and late Lyme arthritis allows insight into arthritis initiation, and the study of postinfectious Lyme arthritis allows further insight into mechanisms of arthritis persistence. A Meta-analysis and Systematic Review of Valvular Heart Disease in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Its Association With Antiphospholipid Antibodies
Conclusions Systemic lupus erythematosus is associated with VHD, and it should be considered a clinical manifestation of SLE in the absence of other valvular pathologies. There is a clear association between VHD in SLE and immunoglobulin G anticardiolipin antibodies positivity. This association suggests that this subgroup of SLE patients might benefit from a screening echocardiogram. (Source: JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology)
