Acknowledging Lack of Inclusion in Genetic Analyses —Reply
In Reply We appreciate the correspondence from Pariyadath about the extremely important point of having broad inclusion criteria for the results to be as generalizable as possible. We also sincerely apologize for the insensitive way in which we explained the rationale for limiting our analyses to those Danish persons of European ancestry in the current analyses. On behalf of the author group and our organizations, we are very committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. (Source: JAMA Psychiatry)

Acknowledging Lack of Inclusion in Genetic Analyses
To the Editor Martin et al estimate that “~79% of all [genome-wide association study] participants are of European descent despite making up only 16% of the global population.” In a recent issue of this journal, Allesøe and colleagues sought to combine genetic data with Danish Nationwide Register information towards prediction of ment al health outcomes. The authors stated that in their processing of genotype data, “…quality control included the removal of individuals of non-European descent and related individuals with the remaining individuals serving as our full study cohort.” It is perpetually disheartening ...

Error in Wording in Methods Section
In the Original Investigation “Deep Learning for Cross-Diagnostic Prediction of Mental Disorder Diagnosis and Prognosis Using Danish Nationwide Register and Genetic Data,” published in the February 2023 issue of JAMA Psychiatry, the authors incorrectly referred to the removal of individuals with non-European ancestry from th e data set as quality control in the Methods section. Rather, the removal of individuals with diverse genetic ancestry from the analyses of genotype data was done to minimize the risk of false findings by not accounting for population stratification. The Methods section now includes the added clari...
