The Adolescent Patient Perspective on Activity Limitations Following Sport-Related Concussion
CONCLUSION: Our primary findings suggest that sport-related concussion influences many facets of the lives of adolescent athletes. Specifically, adolescent athletes identified activity restrictions primarily related to physical activity and sports participation.PMID:38477112 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0587.23 (Source: J Athl Train)

Ankle scientific knowledge is not translated into physiotherapy practice: a thematic analysis of French-speaking physiotherapists clinical behaviors
CONCLUSION: A minority of French-speaking physiotherapists use the International Ankle Consortium ROAST recommended clinical evaluation outcome metrics to inform their clinical care for individuals with an acute LAS injury. This highlights the responsibility of the scientific community to better disseminate evidence-informed research to clinicians.PMID:38477122 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0575.23 (Source: J Athl Train)

Collegiate Adapted Athlete Baseline Performance on the Vestibular/Ocular Motor Screening
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide context for baseline VOMS performance in collegiate adapted athletes and identifying modifiers at baseline. Special consideration is warranted on vestibular and oculomotor assessment in adapted and para-sport athletes with a history of concussion and higher functional classifications.PMID:38477127 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0636.23 (Source: J Athl Train)

Biomechanical Threshold Values for Identifying Clinically Significant Knee-Related Symptoms Six Months Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
CONCLUSIONS: Critical thresholds for gait variables may be utilized to identify individuals with increased odds of clinically significant knee-related symptoms and potential targets for future interventions.PMID:38477136 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0562.23 (Source: J Athl Train)

People With Patellofemoral Pain Have Bilateral Deficits in Physical Performance Regardless of Pain Laterality
CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate bilateral deficits in the physical performance of people with unilateral and bilateral PFP when compared to pain-free controls during the forward step-down and single-leg hop tests. Limb symmetries indices greater than 90% should be interpreted with caution, as they may overstate the physical performance by not assuming bilateral deficits.PMID:38477146 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0649.23 (Source: J Athl Train)

Secondary School Athletic Trainers' Experiences Managing Workplace Organizational- Professional Conflict
CONCLUSIONS: Participants suggested various interpersonal relationship development strategies that can be implemented to manage OPC, especially when starting a new position or building rapport with stakeholders. Specifically, educating various stakeholders on reasons for clinical decisions via effective communication and developing strong professional relationships built on mutual respect assisted in avoiding OPC. Since professional experience appears to alleviate conflict, OPC management strategies should be taught during professional preparation and used early during transition to autonomous practice.PMID:38477153 | DOI:...

Athlete Health and Human Performance Will Not Improve Without Transdisciplinary Collaboration and Data Sharing in Elite Sport
J Athl Train. 2024 Mar 13. doi: 10.4085/1062-6050-0580.23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere are two largely competing models for an athletics organization at both the collegiate and professional levels: the High Performance Model and the Medical Model. The High Performance Model arises from international Football perspective that places a "Performance Director" at the center of teams supporting the athletes. The Medical Model, supported by both the National Athletic Trainers Association and the NCAA, separates off medical staff (athletic trainers, physical therapists, and physicians, predominantly) and emphasizes the au...

Psychological responses during latter rehabilitation and return to sport following ACL reconstruction surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest re-injury anxiety and perceived limitations to ability are psychological constructs on which returners and non-returners differ and therefore may be points of intervention to increase the likelihood of return to sport.PMID:38446462 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0058.23 (Source: J Athl Train)
