Prevalence of ventilator-associated events and antibiogram of bacterial isolates of ventilator-associated pneumonia in a tertiary care hospital of Uttarakhand
CONCLUSION: The most common cause of HAI is VAP. The purpose of this study is to determine the importance of starting suitable antibiotics early for prognosis and the difficulty of diagnosing VAP.PMID:38156309 | PMC:PMC10751612 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v15i6.14137 (Source: Iranian Journal of Microbiology)

Association between sputum culture results and pulmonary changes in children with cystic fibrosis
CONCLUSION: Severity of lung involvement in CF children is clearly dependent to mucoid P. aeruginosa colonization in airways and this notorious bacterium is the most prevalent one in Iranian CF children. Prompt identification and eradication by proper nebulized and systemic antibiotics can have valueless effects on patients' quality of life and prevent lifelong destructive complications such as bronchiectasis. Timely lung CT scan wisely advised by expert CF treatment team can meticulously detect injuries and it seems to act more efficacious than -still helpful-clinical scores and pulmonary function tests.PMID:38156305 | PM...

Cryptococcosis in oncology patients: a case series in a tertiary care cancer centre
Iran J Microbiol. 2023 Dec;15(6):821-825. doi: 10.18502/ijm.v15i6.14163.ABSTRACTCryptococcosis, a relatively uncommon infection in cancer patients is often associated with delayed diagnosis and high fatality rate due to its highly heterogeneous and protean manifestations. Early recognition and initiation of appropriate antifungal therapy might have a favourable outcome in such cases. Here we report three cases of Cryptococcosis among cancer patients in a tertiary care cancer centre in South India. All three patients were males of different ages at presentation with immunosuppression in the form of solid organ or hematologi...

Microbiological profile of multidrug resistant bacteria before and during COVID-19 in CHU Mohammed VI
CONCLUSION: In our study, it is particularly noticeable that the MDRB has increased. These results highlight the importance that the pandemic has not been able to slow the progression.PMID:38156298 | PMC:PMC10751609 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v15i6.14138 (Source: Iranian Journal of Microbiology)

Synthesis of new imidazole-based ionic liquids with antifungal activity against < em > Candida albicans < /em >
CONCLUSION: The newly synthesized IL had an inhibiting effect on the growth of the C. albicans strains and may be used as an alternative candidate for novel drug design.PMID:38156299 | PMC:PMC10751616 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v15i6.14162 (Source: Iranian Journal of Microbiology)
