Lichen planopilaris arising between two linear surgical scars
We report a rare case in which alopecia occurred between two long surgical scars on the scalp several years after surgery. Dermoscopy and biopsy led to a diagnosis of LPP. The localization of the lesions in our case suggests that oxidative stress from the failure of lymph flow might have induced LPP. Oral roxithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory was effective at stopping its progression. (Source: International Journal of Trichology)

Psoriasiform skin reaction due to Brazilian keratin treatment: A clinical-dermatoscopic study of 43 patients
Conclusion: Hair straightening products are widely used and the psoriasiform skin reaction that develops afterward might be underdiagnosed. It is important to investigate the background of BKT in conjunction with the clinical and dermatoscopic findings suggestive of this cutaneous reaction. (Source: International Journal of Trichology)

Topical diphenylcyclopropenone plus topical 0.5 & #37; anthralin versus topical diphenylcyclopropenone alone for the treatment of chronic extensive alopecia areata: A split-scalp, double-blind, controlled study
Conclusions: The combination of DCP and 0.5% anthralin was not superior to DCP alone for the treatment of chronic extensive AA. An increase in side effects – excessive dermatitis and hyperpigmentation – was observed in the combination-treatment group. (Source: International Journal of Trichology)

All that a dermatotrichologist needs to know about hair camouflage: A comprehensive review
Sanober B Daruwalla, Rachita Savalaram Dhurat, Sayyad Ajara Tabassum HamidInternational Journal of Trichology 2022 14(3):77-83 Hair loss can impact a person's quality of life in ways incomprehensible. People value hair for different reasons, but value it nonetheless. There is a myriad of conditions that impede hair growth or cause hair to grow in an unattractive manner such as androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, and chemotherapy-induced hair loss. For conditions like cicatricial alopecia, there are hardly any options available once permanent loss of hair sets in. The role of hair transplantation too is limi...

Lady with long eyelashes & #8230;!
Soumya S Inamadar, NS Praveen KumarInternational Journal of Trichology 2022 14(2):71-72 A sixty years postmenopausal lady presented with growing longer eyelashes for 8 years. She had thick, dark, curly eyelashes measuring 23 mm and 15 mm at the centre and periphery respectively suggesting marked trichomegaly. Increased vellus hair was noticed above lips and chin suggesting hypertrichosis. An important clue in history was the use of chemotherapeutic agent Erlotinib after bronchoscopic surgery for non-small cell lung carcinoma for the past 8 years. Pseudo green hair
Xavier Tomas, Marina Nogueras, Alvaro Bartolome, Juan FerrandoInternational Journal of Trichology 2022 14(2):65-67 Green hair is due to insoluble copper deposits in the hair of blonde people. Although it is most frequently due to an increase in the copper content of algaecides in swimming pools, other causes have been recognized. Herewith, we present a case of a blonde girl who had previously commercially highlighted her hair and the hair had turned green following a swim in a pool with excess copper content in the water. Lifeguard swimming pool commented another previously affected blonde female swimmer 2 days ago. To da...

Nicoleta Neagu, Silviu Horia Morariu, Alina GramaInternational Journal of Trichology 2022 14(2):62-64 Alopecia areata (AA) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease which affects hair follicles. It usually presents as a transient patchy hair loss, but it can sometimes progress into more severe forms such as AA totalis or AA universalis (AAU). Different autoimmune diseases, as well as autoimmune polyglandular syndromes (APS), have been associated with AA, especially with Type I and Type II APS. Herein, we describe the case of a 16-year-old boy with a severe form of AAU and early onset of adult APS, Type III C. As far as we a...
