Evaluation of assessable telemedicine in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A systematic review
ConclusionStudies on the benefits of telemedicine for rheumatology are still limited. The effectiveness of this new healthcare approach in diagnosing and evaluating disease activity is still unclear. Some studies demonstrated patient and physician satisfaction with this treatment. In some cases, there is a tendency to show a high risk of bias. In addition, it is unclear to what extent the use of rheumatology traps affects the establishment of medical relationships. It is recommended that more clinical trials be conducted to examine this relationship. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

Implication of intestinal microbiota in the etiopathogenesis of fibromyalgia: A systematic review
AbstractFibromyalgia (FM) is a highly prevalent chronic disease. About 4.7% of the world's population suffers from generalized pain and hypersensitivity, in addition to a wide range of physical and psychological symptoms. The etiopathogenesis of this disease is multifactorial, which makes its diagnosis and treatment challenging. Recently, the increase in the number of studies on microbiota has provided new data that can help to understand the onset and development of FM. An updated systematic review of the causes of FM has been carried out in this work. Particularly in the last decade, research has focused on the gut –br...

Molecules in the hippo pathway that regulate Th17 differentiation reveal the severity of ankylosing spondylitis
ConclusionOur findings suggest that the Hippo pathway plays a significant role in the regulation of Th17 differentiation and disease activity in patients with AS. The upregulation of TAZ and downregulation of key Hippo pathway proteins, such as MST1/2 and NDR1/2, may contribute to AS pathogenesis. These proteins may serve as biomarkers and may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for AS. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

Validation of diagnosis algorithms for ankylosing spondylitis in claim ‐based database
ConclusionsWhile performing database studies, researchers should be aware of the low PPV of specific algorithms when defining AS. Algorithms with higher PPV were recommended to be adopted to avoid misclassification biases. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

Association between laughter, frailty, and depression in rheumatoid arthritis patients
ConclusionFrailty and depression were associated with laughter in RA patients with controlled disease activity. Interventions aimed at not only disease activity control but also frailty prevention may lead to a life filled with laughter. (Source: International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases)

STA ‐21 regulates Th‐17/Treg balance and synovial fibroblasts functions in rheumatoid arthritis
In this study, we tested whether a STAT3 inhibitor, STA-21, can alter Th-17/Treg balance and SF functions in RA. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and SFs were isolated from 34 RA patients undergoing orthopedic surgery and 15 healthy controls to investigate in  vitro effects of STA-21. The main assays were MTT assay, PI staining, reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR), flow cytometric analysis, and ELISA. Results showed that STA-21 reduced the proportion of Th-17 cells and the expression of STAT3 target genes, RORγt, IL-21, and IL-23R involved in Th-17 cell s differentiation while it conversely increased the proporti...
