In search of self after stroke: a longitudinal qualitative study in the context of client-centred rehabilitation
CONCLUSIONS: While in hospital, stroke survivors can have unrealistic expectations. When at home they can begin to realise their actual capacity . To find a "new" self after a stroke can involve time-consuming and taxing processes of reflections of self-understanding. Engagement in self-selected meaningful and valued activities can support stroke survivors' reconstruction of the "new" self but not all stroke survivors may succeed in finding their "new" self during the first year after stroke.PMID:38010156 | DOI:10.1080/17482631.2023.2282513 (Source: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being)

A qualitative study of factors that managers in small companies consider important for their wellbeing
CONCLUSIONS: The specific context of managerial work in small companies encompasses unique factors. For instance, the small company managers' wellbeing was affected by vulnerability due to the smallness of the business and the absence of available resources. Simultaneously, a small company context provided a strong social climate and close relationships with employees and customers that strengthened the managers' wellbeing. The findings suggest that the availability of financial, personnel, and organizational resources varies between small companies of different size, which may have implications for small business managers...

Facilitators and barriers in psychotherapy from the perspective of autistic adults: an enhanced critical incident study
CONCLUSIONS: Findings from this research reveal that psychotherapy with autistic adults is analogous to performing this work with non-autistic adults, in the sense that this work too entails elements of individually tailored treatment and the reliance on common therapeutic factors. There are also differences in this work that necessitate providers having foundational knowledge about autism. Learning directly from autistic adults' insights may help to improve upon the delivery of mental health care for autistic adults.PMID:37979185 | DOI:10.1080/17482631.2023.2278858 (Source: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on ...
