ConclusionPreoperative screening systems for orthopaedic patients should not only focus on the medical and objective physical issues but also include the patients’ own estimation of their physical health and psychological wellbeing. It is essential that orthopaedic patients receive relevant information that provides a realistic outlook, as well as an honest and optimistic future view. Pain relief after more than 24 hours of preoperative skin traction in patients with intertrochanteric fractures: A retrospective comparative cohort study
ConclusionSkin traction for patients with intertrochanteric fractures for more than 24 h preoperatively resulted in a lower VRS pain score. Therefore, more than 24 h of preoperative skin traction for patients with intertrochanteric fractures may give effective pain relief in situations where surgery is delayed. The effects of cast-related training for nurses on the quality of cast care: a quasi-experimental study
ConclusionThis training program could improve the quality of pre- and intra-casting care, but could not improve the area of post-casting care and care measures related to patient education. Therefore, regular in-service training programs for nurses are recommended to improve their knowledge, skills, and performance in cast-application and care.
