Impact of job embeddedness on miners' safety performance: the role of perceived insider status and safety climate
Int J Occup Saf Ergon. 2024 Feb 16:1-23. doi: 10.1080/10803548.2024.2320995. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe purpose of the present study aims to explore the mechanism of job embeddedness impact on safety performance, the mediating role of perceived insider status, and the cross-level moderating role of safety climate among miners. The questionnaire data used for analysis in this study were collected from 310 miners in 38 coal mine production teams in China. Bootstrap analysis was performed to explore the mediating role of perceived insider status, and multilevel linear analysis was performed to explore the cross-level m...

Decision Made, Good Feelings Fade? How Noise and Multitasking Affect Decision Confidence and Wellbeing
CONCLUSION: In the case of noise, wellbeing is affected even before the thresholds of workplace legislation are reached. Undue overconfidence can have detrimental effects upon subsequent decisions and risk taking. Findings suggest that there should be greater consideration of environmental influences during decision making in work environments.PMID:38351569 | DOI:10.1080/10803548.2024.2318941 (Source: International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics)

Exposure control measures proposed by different organizations: The curious case of nanomaterials-involved activities
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the difficulty of implementation and case-specificity of the solutions of the first two priorities of the hierarchy of controls (elimination and substitution), the emphasis of the guidelines on the next three priorities for controlling exposure to nanomaterials is understood. The type and way of using PPE and engineering controls should be resolved by referring to cutting edge papers.PMID:38347762 | DOI:10.1080/10803548.2024.2318088 (Source: International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics)

What moves truck drivers? - A person-centered perspective on workplace physical activity promotion
CONCLUSION: The results reveal a variety of needs that are fundamental to the development of PA-promoting interventions for truck drivers. These needs appear to be closely linked, so a combination of capabilities, opportunities, and/or motivation should be considered when developing holistic interventions. An example would be linking automatic motivation and psychological capabilities that encompass motivational techniques combined with information for psychoeducation of truck drivers.PMID:38326221 | DOI:10.1080/10803548.2024.2315898 (Source: International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics)

Evaluating the impact of different hard hats on the peripheral vision of construction workers
This study aims to examine the effects of hard hats with different peak lengths on the field of view at different angles in the upward part and to examine the effects of possible field of view losses caused by the hard hat on the reaction times of the workers. A questionnaire was designed and administered to the construction workers. Then, experiments were conducted with a group of subjects to assess their peripheral vision level as well as reaction times. The study found that peripheral vision is affected by the peak size of hard hats. The study further revealed that there is a significant relationship between reaction ti...
