Presence of leukemic clone-specific immunoglobulin heavy chain rearrangements in neonatal blood spots of children with B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia
CONCLUSION: Our study confirms that a large proportion of childhood BCP-ALL originates in utero, regardless of the molecular subtype defined by chromosomal aberrations. The observed trend toward younger age at diagnosis in Guthrie card-positive versus Guthrie card-negative patients implies that the age at diagnosis depends on the presence of preleukemic clone at birth, as well as on the timing of postnatal transforming genetic events.PMID:37929321 | DOI:10.1111/ijlh.14200 (Source: International Journal of Laboratory Hematology)

Bone marrow adipocyte: Origin, biology and relationship with hematological malignancy
In this study, we performed a bibliometric analysis to quantitatively analyze the clusters of keywords of BMAT and hematopoiesis to better understand BMAT and hematopoiesis. Starting with conclusive keywords, our results demonstrated that BMAds is distinct from extramedullary adipose tissues and maintains a routine but dynamic accumulation throughout an individual's life. Various pathophysiological factors take part in dysregulation of the adipose-osteogenic balance throughout life. Bone marrow adipocytes (BMAds) are also contradictorily involved in normal hematopoiesis, and positively participate in the occurrence and pro...

Sysmex-derived COVID-19 prognostic score as an early prognostic marker for severity of the COVID-19 disease
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 prognostic score is a promising indicator stratifying patients with COVID-19 into prognostic groups at the time of the first contact, thus allowing the timely provision of increased care in patients at high risk of severe development.PMID:37921205 | DOI:10.1111/ijlh.14197 (Source: International Journal of Laboratory Hematology)

Effect of prothrombin Belgrade mutation, causing antithrombin resistance, on fibrin clot properties
CONCLUSIONS: Results indicate that prothrombin Belgrade mutation has no significant impact on fibrinolysis, however it may affect kinetics of clot formation and its architecture.PMID:37918971 | DOI:10.1111/ijlh.14195 (Source: International Journal of Laboratory Hematology)
