Characteristics and literature review of ETV6::ABL1 fusion gene-positive acute myeloid leukemia
CONCLUSION: ETV6::ABL1 is a rare but recurrent genetic aberration in AML, and the combined use of fluorescence in situ hybridization and PCR can better identify this fusion gene. Patients carrying ETV6::ABL1 have a high relapse rate and a poor prognosis. TKIs are a reasonable treatment option for this group, and allo-HSCT may be curative.PMID:38441775 | DOI:10.1007/s12185-024-03729-9 (Source: International Journal of Hematology)

Predictive factors for L-asparaginase hypersensitivity in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia
CONCLUSIONS: Children with ALL who require re-exposure to L-asparaginase after 52-week interruption or who have received L-asparaginase for ≥ 15 exposure days are at risk of developing L-asparaginase hypersensitivity. Further management strategies in this setting should be evaluated.PMID:38421487 | DOI:10.1007/s12185-024-03725-z (Source: International Journal of Hematology)

The pathogenesis of cancer-associated thrombosis
Int J Hematol. 2024 Feb 29. doi: 10.1007/s12185-024-03735-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPatients with cancer have a higher risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), compared to the general population. Cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) is a thrombotic event that occurs as a complication of cancer or cancer therapy. Major factors determining VTE risk in cancer patients include not only treatment history and patient characteristics, but also cancer type and site. Cancer types can be broadly divided into three groups based on VTE risk: high risk (pancreatic, ova...

First report of familial mixed phenotype acute leukemia: shared clinical characteristics, Philadelphia translocation, and germline variants
Int J Hematol. 2024 Feb 29. doi: 10.1007/s12185-024-03724-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWhile our understanding of the molecular basis of mixed phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) has progressed over the decades, our knowledge is limited and the prognosis remains poor. Investigating cases of familial leukemia can provide insights into the role of genetic and environmental factors in leukemogenesis. Although familial cases and associated mutations have been identified in some leukemias, familial occurrence of MPAL has never been reported. Here, we report the first cases of MPAL in a family. A 68-year-old woman was diagnosed ...

Influence of FOXP3 single-nucleotide polymorphism after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Int J Hematol. 2024 Feb 28. doi: 10.1007/s12185-024-03726-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe impact of FOXP3 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) on clinical outcomes after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains poorly understood. We investigated the relationship between a FOXP3 SNP (rs3761548) and clinical outcomes in 91 patients with hematological malignancies after allo-HSCT. Multivariate analysis showed that risk of severe chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) was significantly higher in patients with the FOXP3-3279C/A or FOXP3-3279A/A genotype than those with the FOXP3-3279C/C ge...
