Significance of Serum Human Epididymis Protein 4 and Cancer Antigen 125 in Distinguishing Type I and Type II Epithelial Ovarian Cancers
Conclusions In women who present with pelvic masses, ROMA performed very well in distinguishing between noncancer lesions and EOCs but the combined HE4 and CA125 test was more effective in predicting EOC types. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Efficacy and Safety of Second-Line 5-Day Dactinomycin in Case of Methotrexate Failure for Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia
The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristics and outcomes of patients treated for gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) with second-line 5-day dactinomycin after failed first-line 8-day methotrexate. Methods From 1999 to 2017, patients with methotrexate resistant GTN treated with second line dactinomycin were identified at the French Trophoblastic Disease Reference Center. Using univariate and multivariate analysis, we identified significant predictive factors of second line dactinomycin failure. Results A total of 877 GTN patients were treated with first-line 8-day methotrexate, of which 103 r...

Comparison of Nedaplatin- and Cisplatin-Based Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy in Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer Patients: A Propensity Score Analysis
Conclusions The clinical outcome of this cohort of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer treated with CCRT did in no way provide support for the use of nedaplatin in place of cisplatin in chemoradiation and demonstrated no equivalence of the 2 drugs. Cautions should be taken for the replacement among platinum complexes in cancer treatment. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Comparison of Different Surgical Approaches for Stage IB1 Cervical Cancer Patients: A Multi-institution Study and a Review of the Literature
Conclusions Our study confirmed that minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy or robotics) was as adequate and effective as abdominal surgery in terms of surgical and oncological outcomes in the surgical treatment of EEC FIGO stage IB1. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Multimodal Management of Locally Advanced Neuroendocrine Cervical Carcinoma: A Single Institution Experience
Conclusions This series based on a multimodal management compares favorably with previously published data. Most patients could be eligible to surgery, and complete remission was achieved in 85% of those amenable to complete resection. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Pattern of Care, Health Care Disparities, and Their Impact on Survival Outcomes in Stage IVB Cervical Cancer: A Nationwide Retrospective Cohort Study
Objective Although locally advanced cervical cancer can be cured, patients with stage IVB disease have poor prognosis with limited treatment options. Our aim was to describe the pattern of care and analyze health disparity variables that may account for differences in treatment modalities and survival in this population. Methods The National Cancer Database was queried for patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2013 with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma of the cervix. Codes representing parenchymal and lymphatic metastasis (beyond the para-aortic radiation fields) were used to identify the cohort. Var...

A Comprehensive Program Enabling Effective Delivery of Regional Genetic Counseling
Objectives The aim of this study was to demonstrate the utility of a comprehensive program involving management-based evidence, telemedicine, and patient navigation to provide genetic counseling services for patients with ovarian and breast cancer across a geographically large health care system. Methods We identified all patients with newly diagnosed ovarian and breast cancer in our health care system from January 2013 to December 2015 through the cancer registry. Referral characteristics and testing outcomes were recorded for each year and compared using the χ2 or Fisher exact test. Results Because the implement...

A Population-Based Assessment of Urologic Procedures and Operations After Surgery or Pelvic Radiation for Cervical Cancer
Conclusions Women treated for cervical cancer undergo ureteral stricture interventions at 0.8% per year over the 20 years after their treatment; this risk is higher among women who receive radiation treatment. Fistula repair is rare after cervical cancer. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Intestinal Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology: Are We Training for the Future?
Conclusions Almost half of gynecologic oncology fellows and recent graduates in the United States do not feel prepared to perform intestinal procedures independently after fellowship. Increased volume and direct involvement of fellows in intestinal surgery may improve preparedness for performing intestinal surgery after fellowship. Factors Predictive of 90-Day Morbidity, Readmission, and Costs in Patients Undergoing Pelvic Exenteration
Objective Pelvic exenteration for recurrent gynecological malignancies is characterized by a high rate of severe complications. Factors predictive of morbidity, readmission, and cost were analyzed. Methods Data of consecutive patients undergoing pelvic exenteration between January 2007 and December 2016 were prospectively evaluated. Results Fifty-eight patients were included in the analysis. Anterior, posterior, and total exenterations were executed in 39 (67%), 9 (16%), and 10 (17%) patients, respectively. Ten (15.5%) severe complications occurred: 8 (20.5%), 0 (0%), and 1 (10%) after anterior, posterior, and tota...

The Feasibility of Laparoscopic Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology for Obese and Morbidly Obese Patients
This study aimed to examine the feasibility of performing laparoscopic gynecologic oncology procedures in obese and morbidly obese patients. Materials and Methods This retrospective study evaluated patients who underwent laparoscopic surgeries by a gynecologic oncologist from January 2012 to June 2016 at a designated gynecologic oncology center. Patients were categorized as nonobese (body mass index [BMI] (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)
