Food specific inhibitory control under negative mood in binge ‐eating disorder: Evidence from a multimethod approach*
DiscussionParticipants with BED reported higher impulsivity and lower emotion regulation capacities. The combined investigation of electrocortical processes and behavior contributes to an advanced understanding of behavioral and electrocortical processes underlying inhibitory control in BED. Inhibitory control and negative mood, probably amplified by emotion regulation deficits, should be addressed further in the investigation and treatment of BED. Variation in reproductive outcomes of women with histories of bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, or eating disorder not otherwise specified relative to the general population and closest ‐aged sisters
This study seeks to examine the long‐term reproductive consequences of eating disorders (ED), to assess variation in reproductive outcomes by ED type, and to examine reproductive differences between women with previous ED diagnosis and their discordant sisters. MethodUsing a sample of women with previous ED diagnosis generated by the Utah Population Database, this study compares the fecundity (parity) and age at first birth of women by ED subtype (bulimia nervosa [BN], anorexia nervosa [AN], and ED not otherwise specified [EDNOS]) (n = 1,579). We also employed general population match case–control, and discordant s...

Are parental self ‐efficacy and family flexibility mediators of treatment for anorexia nervosa?
This study explored the trajectories of parental self‐efficacy and perceived family flexibility during FBT and systemic family therapy (SyFT). We also explored whether parental self‐efficacy mediates the effects of treatment on weight gain early in treatment. Method158 adolescents (12–18 years old; 89% girls) and their parents were randomized to FBT or SyFT. Parental self‐efficacy as well as adolescents' and parental perceptions of the family's flexibility were collected at baseline and at sessions 2, 4, 6, and 8. ResultsOver time, only parents in FBT reported significantly greater self‐efficacy. The change in ma...

Validation of eating disorders examination questionnaire in Mexican women
ConclusionsThis study provides information supporting the seven‐item and three‐factor version, rather than the original or eight‐item versions of the EDE‐Q. In the future, the adapted version of the EDE‐Q will make it possible to draw comparisons between Mexican samples in other socio‐cultural contexts. Future research is required to continue refining the instruments to achieve more representative results from the general ED population. (Source: International Journal of Eating Disorders)

Economic evaluation of cognitive behavioral therapy and Internet ‐based guided self‐help for binge‐eating disorder
DiscussionWe did not find clear evidence for one of the treatments being more cost‐effective. CBT tends to be more effective but also more costly. If the societal WTP for an additional BFD is low, then our results suggest that GSH‐I should rather be adopted. (Source: International Journal of Eating Disorders)
