Automated computation of radiographic parameters of distal radial metaphyseal fractures in forearm X-rays
ConclusionOur pipeline is the first fully automatic method that accurately and robustly computes the RPs for a wide variety of clinical forearm radiographs from different sources, hand orientations, with and without cast. Automatic classification of heart failure based on Cine-CMR images
ConclusionsIn this study, we proposed a novel self-supervised learning framework named 4D-SSLHF for HF classification based on Cine-CMR. The proposed 4D-SSLHF can mine 3D spatial information and temporal information in Cine-CMR images well and accurately classify different categories of HF. The good classification results show our method ’s potential to assist physicians in choosing personalized treatment. (Source: International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery)

Image-guided surgical planning of percutaneous nephrolithotomy with patient-specific CTRs
ConclusionThe optimization-driven scheme for determining a single tract surgical plan, coupled with the use of a patient-specific CTR, shows promising results for improving percutaneous access in PCNL procedures. This approach clearly shows the potential for enhancing the quality and suitability of percutaneous accesses, addressing the challenges posed by staghorn and non-staghorn stones during PCNL procedures. Further research involving clinical validation is necessary to confirm these findings and explore the potential clinical benefits of the approach. Tissue histology on the correlation between fracture energy and elasticity
ConclusionThrough mechanical tests, we showed that porcine duodenum tissues also have a correlation between its fracture energy and elasticity. We also discussed that the histological structure of a tissue is an important factor that dictates how the tearing energy of a tissue will correlate to the elasticity. We understood that since the tearing mechanism between the duodenum and jejunum was similar, the correlations between their fracture energies and elasticities were also similar. A preliminary exploration into top-down and bottom-up deep-learning approaches to localising neuro-interventional point targets in volumetric MRI
ConclusionThis paper is a preliminary foray into a fundamental aspect of machine learning architectural design: that of the top-down/bottom-up divide from cognitive psychology. Although there are additional considerations within the particular architectures investigated that could affect these results and the number of architectures investigated is limited, our results do indicate that the less commonly used top-down paradigm could lead to more efficient and effective architectures in the future. Dynamic surface reconstruction in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery based on neural radiance fields
ConclusionOur proposed depth estimation network and reconstruction framework provide a significant contribution to the field of surgical scene perception. The framework achieves better results than SOTA methods on medical datasets, reducing mismatches on depth maps and resulting in more accurate depth maps with clearer edges. The proposed ER framework is verified on a series of dynamic cardiac surgical images. Future efforts will focus on improving the training speed and solving the problem of limited field of view.
