Automated full body tumor segmentation in DOTATATE PET/CT for neuroendocrine cancer patients
ConclusionIn this paper, we demonstrate the ability to automatically generate accurate NET segmentation masks given PET images through supervised learning. We publish the model for extended use and to support the treatment planning of this rare cancer. (Source: International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery)

Evaluation of continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis based on a neural-network
ConclusionWe propose a neural network-based capsulorhexis results evaluation model to improve the accuracy of evaluation for capsulorhexis results. The results of the evaluation experiments show that the proposed results evaluation model evaluates of the effect of capsulorhexis better than the medical evaluation method. Automatic patient positioning based on robot rotational workspace for extended reality
ConclusionsFollowing the previous work, we extended our system to support multiple ports to cover a broader range of surgical procedures and introduced the automatic positioning component. Our solution can decrease the surgical setup time and eliminate the need to repositioning the robot mid-procedure and is suitable both for the preoperative planning step using VR and in the operating room —running on an AR headset. A YOLOv5-based network for the detection of a diffuse reflectance spectroscopy probe to aid surgical guidance in gastrointestinal cancer surgery
ConclusionThe use of a deep learning approach for markerless DRS probe detection and tracking system could pave the way for real-time classification of GI tissue to aid margin assessment in cancer resection surgery and has potential to be applied in routine surgical practice. Gaze behavior is related to objective technical skills assessment during virtual reality simulator-based surgical training: a proof of concept
ConclusionOur findings suggest that visual behavior should be quantified for assessing surgical expertise in simulation-based training environments, especially when visual guidance is provided. Ultimately visual behavior could be used to quantitatively assess surgeons ’ learning curve and expertise while training on VR simulators, in a way that complements existing metrics. Automatic performance evaluation of the intracorporeal suture exercise
ConclusionWe developed a system that provides performance metrics of the intracorporeal suture exercise. These metrics can help surgical residents practice independently and receive informative feedback on how they entered the needle into the Penrose. Combining seeded region growing and k-nearest neighbours for the segmentation of routinely acquired spatio-temporal image data
ConclusionsA Dice ’s coefficient of 0.80 for the area segmentation does not seem perfect. However, there are two main factors, besides true prediction errors, lowering the score: Segmentation mistakes on small areas lead to a rapid decrease in the score and labelling errors due to complex data. However, in combinat ion with the light-polluted data set and pollution area detection, these results can be considered successful and play a key role in our general goal: Exploiting NIR-FOI for the early detection of arthritis within hand joints.
