Clinical interventions for Takayasu arteritis: A systematic review
ConclusionDespite an extensive literature search, few comparative studies with small sample sizes were retrieved. The quality of these studies was considered low, preventing recommendations on effectiveness and safety of the studied interventions for clinical practice. Until new comparative studies with more robust sample sizes are conducted, treatment of TA should be guided individually taking into account the severity of disease and the availability of treatment options. The Maastricht Frailty Screening Tool for Hospitalised Patients (MFST ‐HP) to Identify Non‐Frail Patients
ConclusionsThe MFST‐HP seems to operate more strongly as a non‐frailty indicator than as a frailty indicator and may in this respect help professionals to decide upon subsequent care. The MFST‐HP is able to rule out 84% of the non‐frail population in this study. The remaining 16% need to be assessed by means of a comprehensive geriatric assessment or rapid geriatric assessment, to gain more insight in the level of vulnerability in the frail‐group. Reduction in microalbuminuria by calcium channel blockers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension —A randomized, open‐label, active‐controlled, superiority, parallel‐group clinical trial
ConclusionsCilnidipine did not show any additional anti‐albuminuric effect compared with amlodipine in patients with T2D and microalbuminuria treated with an RAS blocker. However, the anti‐albuminuric effect of cilnidipine might differ according to the duration of diabetes. (Source: International Journal of Clinical Practice)

Treatment options for unresectable HCC with a focus on SIRT with Yttrium ‐90 resin microspheres
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the predominant form of primary liver cancer, is the second leading cause of cancer‐related deaths across the globe. Only a small percentage of HCC patients (~20%‐30%) are diagnosed at an early stage when first‐line treatment options may be effective. The majority of HCC patients (>70%) are diagnosed with unresectable disease and given a poor overall prognosis. Current treatment guidelines recommend locoregional therapy with transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) and systemic therapy with sorafenib as first‐line treatment for patients with intermediate and advanced stage ...

Inpatient glucose management programme in the Asian healthcare setting
ConclusionsThe IGM programme was effective in improving inpatient glycaemic monitoring and control in the general medical wards, with a significant reduction in LOS observed. These demonstrated the programme's potential to enhance quality and efficiency of patient care. (Source: International Journal of Clinical Practice)

Haematuria work ‐up in general care—A German observational study
ConclusionsThe high incidence of urinary tract cancer in the data presented here support the rationale for diagnostic work‐up of patients with micro‐ or macrohaematuria. Prospective randomised trials are necessary to identify index patients for second work‐up after a primarily negative investigation as well as the role of molecular markers, which possibly enable to omit invasive work‐up. Influence of renal function on anticoagulation control in patients with non ‐valvular atrial fibrillation taking vitamin K antagonists
ConclusionChronic kidney disease is associated with poor anticoagulation control in patients with non‐valvular AF taking VKA. The SAMe‐TT2R2 score was not predictive of poor TTR in the subgroup with CKD, although a modest predictive value for poor TTR was found in those without CKD.
